I have icons on my desktop and in my favourites which have just "appeared". How do I get rid of them? I had it cleared up once a few months ago but voila and this time when I right click I can't delete the b astards.

Read my post in this thread and do it. It definetely won't hurt even if you don't get rid of all of your problems. If you have crap appearing in your favorites w/o you putting them there, you have a spyware issue. My daughter downloaded some BS a few years ago that had a "Hotbar" associated with it and it about drove me to throw this thing in the street. Down load Spysweeper and I bet you will be a lot happier.

Now your talking over my head. I'm far from being a computer genious. Fortunately, Spysweeper has taken care of all of my computer problems. Better consult KMA for further help. I remember somebody saying before you run your spyware program, open up IE and minimize. Don't know if this will help or not, but might be worth a try.

It should be in add/remove programs but you might try this.
Right click your start button then click explore. Look in the tree for programs and program files. If you find the toolbar in there, right click it and delete it. You may have to restart your computer.
What kind of toobar is it? I mean whose is it? I have a google toolbar and don't have any problems.

If it worked for you, cool, if not, you may have to run mutiple passes of SpyBot, if you have not already done so, upgrade to SpyBot version 1.3 and once installed, get into advanced mode (Mode -> Advanced Mode)

Then click Settings, and go to Filesets and put a check for both Usage tracking and Tracks.uti at the bottom.

Have SpyBot scan the system after immunizing your system. Optionally, you can go to Tools -> IE Tweaks and place locks on the three critical things for IE.

As in the other post, re-install Ad-Aware preferably version 6 build 181, as the Personal Edition has some issues plaguing it.
