IF you network the two together you can transfer the files betweeen that way. Or copy stuff to floppys and/or cd.. very time consuming. Also yes you have to install your ISP again

I recommend getting a jump drive to transfer your data files but you'll have to re-install all your commercial software (that didn't come on your new computer) including setting up your internet again though your ISP should help you there. You can probably go to their website and print out instructions or let them walk you through over the phone.

you would need to make the old drive a slave to the new, (using the jumper on the back of the old drive,) and I think you need to have the same operating system on both

thanks alot for the help. So I guess I should get my new computer all set up and powered up and ready to go. than to transfer some of the files, just use a cable to network those together or how do I go about doing that. Obviously im not going to transfer all of my files, but a majority of them.

go to your local computer store and buy a software called Norton Ghost. get the older version because the newer ones are a little pricey. it's easy to do but just ask the guy helping you for his advice on what exactly you want done.

i can help you out another day, going to bed now...santa's on his way. :sadwave:
