computer question

Not being the most savvy on computers, please help me. I just downloaded what they said was the newest, most customized version of internet explorer. After downloading the program, when I now press the icon for IE, it comes for Searchalot. Is this what is supposed to happen? :shrug:

Any advice will be welcome. I use a DSL modem and have always used IE as my search engine. Are there better? Is this the best one to use with DSL? I also usually pull up Yahoo to do searches.

Like I stated, please share advice and what you use and suggest.

Internet Explorer is just a browser. It can goto website that are search engines like Yahoo or Google or Lycos.
