buddy of mine called me up and said his high-speed internet was crawling and taking forever to connect and go from page to page. the usual stuff. he called me because he thinks i know more about computers than he does and wants to know if i can fix it. he's right, but thats only because he's clueless. i'm no computer genius.
i told him id come over and at least try to see whats up.
my question:
where is the best place (in terms of freeware or free downloads) to start when someone suspect theyve got a virus on their computer. what are the "staple programs" that anyone should run.
im gonna go over there and install spybot and adaware. but no clue if thats gonna help him. i know running the programs in the future will keep him in good shape.
but in terms of right now, tonight -- where should i start? what are the best ways to go about trying to get him back to normal.
