New London is claiming that the affected homeowners were living on city land for the duration of the lawsuit and owe back rent. It's a new definition of chutzpah: Confiscate land and charge back rent for the years the owners fought confiscation.

It sure does sound like a screwing. You can't fight city hall is usually pretty accurate. They should have taken the dough and moved when this happened. Must have had some legal advice (wonder what those bills are, lol!). 5 years of legal bills, 5 years of back rent, and you're getting below market rate for the property. I smell a few bankrupcies!
The biggest thing that pisses me off is how they're getting the below market rates after being forced off. I mean c'mon just put more salt in those wounds. Not to mention all of the legal fees, etc. like you said 65. I think I'd go postal after that crap. I'm glad I don't live in CT. They're actually doing something (or may have done it already) on the state level in GA to prevent this type of thing from happening.
