Yep
Course played par 70 in 97 when they had Open there last. Playing 71 this year making par 4 into par five which should help scoring in relation to par.

Had one day in 97 with 20 MPH winds and greens were firmer.

Look for scoring to much better in relation to par this year than 97. Was surprised at scoring props when they 1st opened but didn't take long for them to adjust somewhat. Projected weather looks benign--but you never know.

Will be interesting as always :)

Th course doesn't look that pristine. Weird for a major. It looks good, just not perfect.

Could not agree more. I do like the fact that everyone has to tee off on a 200+ par 3 over water for their opening shot of the day. That has to be fairly intimidating.

Really, those just look like US Open greens....

The USGA is trying to get them to roll 14 on the stimpmeter. They're not designed to roll that fast, so they shave them down, roll the shit out of them and deprive them of water.

They had a clip of an interview with the head superintendant on the Golf Channel the other night......You could tell he didn't want to bad mouth the USGA, but you could easily read between the lines his feelings about trying to get his greens to that speed.

Don't remember Bethpage State having that municipal look.
