I seriously think Montreal and Ottawa have great value to come out of the East. Carolina, NJ, Tor, and NYI are all battling. If Montreal wins on Thursday I think they beat the Bruins in the series (sorry Mugs).

I think Wings/Avs are going to play for the Western Conference and it should be one of the best series of all time....

Intersted in hearing input from you guys on who you see in the Conference finals.....

good luck Thursday......

chenker,

I think in the West SJ & Col. will be the hell out of each other in the second round if they meet.
I think in the East you are right about Ott. & Mont. but Car. has been better than I thought and could make noise if they get consistent goaltending. If Ott. were to meet NYI I really believe Ott. would win in 6. But Tor. is going to be tough to knock out, mind you if Sundin is gone for the rest series with a possible hairline fracture on his wrist this will hurt them immensely.
Should be a great second round but still lots of hockey left in the first round.

agree with you horns- I think Nj/Car, NYI/Tor series' each could go either way. Really impressed with Ott and Montreal so far.

East is wide open right now, not much separating the top to the bottom except for the gutless Flyers.

If the Devils get by the Canes they could be dangerous because of goaltending and experience.

In the West I think Colorado/Detroit are the far superior teams especially if Hasek and Roy can play like their capable of.

No offense taken Chenker. You are 100% correct about tonight's B's / Canadien game. B's loose and it's lights out - probably Saturday at home too. Also, if Boston is to pull this series out, then lucky us, we get Ottawa. They are playing like they believe they can't be beat. Just for fun, I think the NHL should see if there is some plexi-glass behind Lalime. Three straight shutouts is incredible. Plus, add in the only goal he's given up was in OT.

Montreal is only going to get better. Once all those injured guys get completely healthy and in game shape. Look out. They are fast and haven't made many mistakes.

Toronto / NYI could go either way with NYI having some momentum right now. No Sundin will help the Isles out but it still won't be easy.

Devils / Hurricanes - I think the Devs have outplayed them and should be up 3-2 not down 2-3. Stupid Holik penalty with 1:50 to cost them (and me  ) big time. Plus, the two saves Weekes made in OT were incredible. I still think the Devils pull it out.

There's better than a decent shot that the 5-8 seeds all win in the first round. Who would have thought that?
