I dont get it. I keep reading Bama sucks, they are 6-6, have no O blah blah blah...

OSU isnt very good. They are 6-6 as well, with no D which is worse than no O....

OSU has 3 wins vs complete shit teams they blew out in Mizzou St, Arky St, & FAU.

They have 1 good win vs Nebraska, 1 ok win vs Kansas & another crappy win vs Baylor.

They lost to Houston, K-St, A&M, Texas, OU & T.T.

Take away the 3 shit games & they give up over 30 pts a game!! :scared

Alabama isnt some gem by any means, but come on you can take something really good out of some of their losses.

They lost @ Arky in OT, by 1pt a game they should have won if not for two missed FGs & a PAT.

They lost @ FLA by 15 by the #'s they game was even & FLA came from behind to win it.

A 3 pt loss to @ Tennesse....where again they blew a late lead.

They held that super high powered O of Hawaii to 17 in a decent win.

They were pretty much dominated by LSU & had a bad loss to Missy St.

~Against bad D's like they are facing they have no trouble moving the ball.

Who knows maybe I am wrong about this, but this is far from the mismatch alot of people are calling this one.

One point that people overlook is that we have really moved the ball well this year between the 20's. Shula's big problem when in the red zone was his addiction to a jumbo package (bring in backup FB Tim Castille to play TB behind FB LeRon McClain. When that package came in, everyone in the stadium including my 3 year old daughter knew what was coming.

QB John Parker Wilson has smashed the single season passing record at UA. This may be the first game when he has both WR Keith Brown and WR D.J. Hall healthy at the same time. Also WR Nakita Stover has really come along and if Brown or Hall is double teamed, may open it up for Stover or Will Oakley to hit it big.

Big question is going to be RT--Chris Capps is to blame for Wilson nearly being beheaded several times this year. His backup is Sr. Kyle Tatum, former DT. Best package against AU was moving center to RT and using backup center. I don't think Kines will be afraid to make that switch if Capps screws up, WHICH HE WILL.

I think that Kines leaves Darby in and opens up in the Red Zone.

I completely agree about moving the ball...just going over some games vs teams w/ very good to great defense they put up some good yardage.....OSU is a is well below average in my opinion.

Vs Florida....327 yards

vs LSU 383 yards :SIB

vs Auburn 364 yards

Now yards dont win a game, but they can be an inside-out indicator of what a team can do.

Good info.....i probably wont play this game but i did look at some of the stats with these 2 teams and it appears to be who can run and who can stop the run kind of game

ok. state is 6-1 ATS when they outrush their opps
ok state is 0-4 ats when they are outrushed

Alabama is 1-6 SU when they are Outrushed, losing by 7, 14, 8, 3, 15 and 1......

you have Ok state with 25 rushing TDS and Alabama with 8

Ok. state has 3 players over 500 yds rushing not inlcuding the QB who has rushed for 466yds....showing some depth....Alabama has 1..Kenneth Darby

If Alabama can stop the running game, should be a big game for them and a long day for OKie state, If OK State can run and be effective, which they like to do 62% of the time they have the ball, they should win by wearing down the bama D

The difference for me is that sure Bama is behind on the stats offensively, but they have gone up against the likes of Flordia, LSU, Auburn, Arky, Tenn D's

While OSU has not faced that many good D's this year....maybe Texas, but they were over rated, & OU & in those two games they only scoreed 10 & 21.

The wild card could be Coach Kines, who has the players as fired up as they have been the entire year. Reports that the team has had "spirited" practices for the first time this year (which is sad but will save that for another day).

Might be a good 1st half play.

of course stats dont always tell the whole story, so many other intangibles that you can calculate in.....all i'm saying is, if Bama can limit the Cowboys on the ground they essentially limit them as a whole since thats their strength and vice versa with the Cowboys being able to run......

My question is, is how good is the Bama D? They have zero qualtiy wins, they beat nobody, FG kickers are shaky at best.....then again You have Ok state with the same record and only 1 quality win.........Alabama would be comparable to Nebraska before they are compared to Oklahoma or Texas.....

The point was raised about this being the best D ok State has faced....I question that....but could it be an offense so different than Alabama is used to seeing with all the different formations run, that they may have trouble adjusting before its too late....

like i said i most likley wont play the game just offering contradicting reasoning

Bama is in a pretty tough spot, especially with the main story being who's going to coach their team, but my take is that the Big XII is pretty horrendous. I like Bama today.

And they are good counter points.

I dont think they is the best run D OSU will face, I think Texas has a better run D, but clearly not a better pass D.

I believe this is the best pass D they have seen. Only 2 teams have hit up Bama for 300 yards, Hawaii on like 60 passes & Tenn got 302.

Simply IMO if Bama can limit the sacks & win or tie turnover battle they have a very nice shot to win here. I will generally take a team with a solid at worst D vs a team with a below average D.

Bama is 1-5 SU, but 4-2 ATS vs Bowl teams, OSU is 1-6 & 2-5 ATS vs Bowl teams for what that is worth.

maybe someone could please tell me

maybe someone could please tell me

Why is the bama job being talked about like it is Notre Dame. All these big coaches are being rumored to go there. Maybe somebody can explain to me why this particular job gets so much attention.

Alabama shared or outright National Championships....source..SI 2001 Sports Almanac

1925...1926...1961...1964....1965...1973...1978...1979...1992...

Both N.D. and Alabama basically live off their reputation...Especially N.D. given their last 8 or 9 Bowl appearances..

Still Ala. is a great job for a coach...no NFL...no MLB..no NBA...it's Alabama in Alabama and that is all that matters when you are from or attended Alabama....of course those nice folks at Auburn University would not see it that way...
Coach at Ala. and you can become Governor if ya win enough games..
