Why is it anytime Pittsburgh wins a big game or championship that everyone feels the need to bitch and whine about the refs? There's hundreds of bad calls all year long, deal with it.
I heard a sportstalk radio show in Philly talk about how lucky the Steelers were to play against 2 weak NFC West teams for their championships too. Unbelievable how people try to tarnish a world championship because of their biased against Pittsburgh. Wow...
its a shame that everyone makes excuses why the Steelers have won 2 championships...
Lets talk about what the Steelers have accomplished so we can put this all to rest...
1. They won 3 straight road games to get to Super Bowl 40, they beat Cincinatti, the beloved Indianapolis (which the refs which are supposedly always on Pittsburgh side tried to give the game to Indy with that bullshit review on Polamalu's Int that they reversed), and Denver which was 13-3 that year. Then they go on to play Seattle in the Super Bowl which was highly UNDERRATED. That year Seattle was 13-3 (tied for 2nd best record in the league), They had a 3-1 non conference record that year which they played (Ind, Hou, Ten, and Jax). Shaun Alexander that year rushed for 1880 yds and had 27 Td's. Seattle was the 2nd ranked offense in the league and 16th ranked defense in the league (they scored the most points in the league and were 7th in the league for points against.) Also they were 3rd in the league in rushing and 5th in rush defense.
***Sounds to me that the Steelers played pretty well and overcame a lot to win a championship
This year all they overcame was the toughest schedule in the league and to be honest the most brutal schedule I've ever seen in which they finished 12-4. They had the #1 defense in the league in almost every category. They played a tough Baltimore team that they beat 3 times this year and then they faced an Arizona team that had the 3rd best offense in the league and 2nd best pass offense in the league...They also have the best WR tandem in the league led by the best receiver in the league (which by the way they held in check until the end of the game when they were playing some bs prevent). Arizona beat Atlanta (2nd best rush offense in the league), a good Carolina team on the road which they were a 10-11 point underdog (3rd best rush offense in the league), and a hot streaking philly team which they were a 3 point underdog to get to the Super Bowl.
To say that Pittsburgh hasn't done anything or overcame anything or isn't deserving to be the champs is ludacris. Its a shame that people always want to look for the negatives and not give props where props are due. Just because people aren't as familiar with teams like Seattle and Arizona because they play far out west doesn't mean that they weren't formidable opponents and it doesn't mean that Pittsburgh didn't earn everything they got. People can say what they want but Pittsburgh just won 2 out of the last 4 Super Bowls and if I recall when the cheating Patriots did this people were talking dynasty...not that they were lucky and got all the calls.
