Two teams that won the NCAA's in the last 3 yrs battle tonite in the Dome.
So much has been already written on this game.

UConn - over Cuse **
Cuse has played well esp the last 2 games where Mac has found his shot.Despite finding his range vs Cinny and ND he's still shooting 57-165[34%] beyond the arc.
He has always had trouble vs Conn.Calhoun has done a good job contesting his shot over the yrs.
Cuse is loaded with Nichols who can hit the 3.Roberts and Watkins are 6'9 and 6'11 and own the paint.Devon is going to be a superstar at the other gd.But he's a puppy and makes mistakes.
Boe has been playing more man/man defense. There 2-3 is one of the best. But not as good as lyrs with Warrick on the wing.
Huskies are also loaded.Gay,Armstrong and Boone with Brown,Adrien and Anderson all play the 3,4, and 5.Austrie is a solid pt gd who I think will penetrate the zone tonite.Williams has played in 4 games and is an impact player.Avg 7 assits and 10 pts.Rashad with his range could have a big game vs Cuses zone.
Both team are 1 & 2 in rebounds in BE.Both teams have depth,both have shooters,both athletic,both have shot blockers,etc,etc.
Cuse playing at home where their only loss was to Bucknell.Manhattan and Cornell gave them problems earlier in the yr and just last week So Fl played them tough.
Conn on the rd was beaten by Marquette 94-79.Conn has been playing at home but has played a tougher schedule. But Huskies have been inconsistent just beating LSU.Both teams won there last 2 games.
Boe's best defense is the zone.Austrie and Williams will penetrate it and dump inside to there 4 or 5 scorers.Anderson will be waiting for the kickout.Conn offense I think can score.Cuse is so dependent on one man. Jerry Mac...Shut him down and Cuse has to really press to score. They don't have the natural scorers that Huskies have. Shut Gay down and there are 7 more scorers.
Like Huskies winning this by 5 or 6 pts.To much talent.
I think a lot of people are scared of the way Conn played at Marquette. And they should be.Even the LSU game.Since Feb of last yr they won and covered vs the Cuse,Prov,Rutgers, and Pitt.Thats 4-0 in BE games.Villanueva is the only player missing from that team. They beat the Cuse -4.5 by 9 in the dome.Cuse is missing Warrick who avg 21 pts a game,Pace and Edelin who both avg double figures.
So the team the Huskies see tonite are nowhere as good as the team they beat by 9 lyr.
Huskies win...
Playing in the "dome" tonite with all the Cuse fans making ESPN banners will be eletric. There is a contest...Who has the best banner...Of course the center of attention will be on Williams and the laptop he stole."U=Conn-victs" is leading the vote.

Will be back later with North Texas-Denver

Good info. Cuse has just as many scorers avging double digits as UConn and their APG is spread out a little bit as well too....I haven't watched them play so your comment about Gerry may be right - but statistically I don't see it. Uconn just has seemed a bit flat lately and the orangemen are coming off what I consider a quality road win, beating Cinci away. I think the homecourt advantage could come in to play as well.

Quick question: who, in your opinion has the better inside game? i'm not too familiar with these two teams.

Im all over the Orangemen tonite. They are at the top of their game and Boheim will confuse U Conn. This is a great play, getting points and being at home against a very weak willed U Conn team.Syracuse and their strong effort get the job done tonite.

Zebbers..UConn ranks 1 and Cuse 2 in rebounding. Both teams hit the off bds.Conn has 4 guys that have 50,30,28 and 31.But Cuse has the almost the same.
When I coached I played the 2-3.Saw Boe at 10-15 clinics. He is a master at it like Chaney at Temple.Everyone knows how to attack it.But good coaches would always attack the weakside with offensive rebounders.Watch tonite how Calhoun will hit the off bds on the weakside. He is the best rebounding coach in the country. When he coached at Northeastern in Boston before Conn he led the nation in rebounding for 2 or 3 yrs.At clinics he would show his techniques to us coaches. His NE players were all 6'5,6'6 and 6'6.
I would say there about even.Conn players can score a little more but it's a wash or a slight lean towards Huskies.

garm good luck tonite...

any thought on the O/U on this one? I thought it was a bit high and may play the Under. Not sure though as this game could be a track meet.

North Texas - over Denver * {small play}
You have the No1 offensive team in the Sun belt vs the No 1 defensive team. NT is No 1 or 2 in off bds,Blocked shots, steals, turnover margin.NT is almost last in def bds, defense giving up 72 pts a game, and assits. In the Sun belts top 15 players for assits there is no one from NT.And they are the No 1 offense. Thats unreal...
What does that tell you. It's mini UNLV...lets run and gun. They go for steals and blocked shots.Unfortunalty when you miss the steal or block shot chances are the other team scores.[in steals they have 4 of the top 15 conf players]
Well that is North Texas. They have won 8 of there last 9 all at home.Davis the tranfer from Arkansas is there best player avg 17 pts.Simpson is there big guy and they have 6 or 7 more greyhounds that can run and shoot. In fact NT has over 450 pts scored from players off the bench. They have depth. But again these guys have trouble on defense.
Denver has 6'10 Yuri Nicholson the best player in the Sun.He leads in scoring and is 2 in rebounding. An impact player. He's avg 19 pts and 11 bds.Walker is a outside shooter and Porch,Cox carpenter all round out a solid starting 5.They can shoot and when you collaspe on Yuri like La-Laf did they hit 13 tre's.
They have won 5 in a row and are beating up on NO,La-Laf and FIU by 19,12 and 15.NT lost to NO and struggled with the others.
But Denver is terrible on the rd.Lyr they split with NT winning on a last second shot by 2.Denver won by 15 at home. Denver is 1-5 away.
NT has the talent to beat Yuri and co.But the discipline of playing defense and trying to play some half court offense is so bad.NT did a good job on Laf's Southall. He dominated and scored inside but NT hung on to win by 6.This can't be a strong play because last week New Orleans came to Denton w/o there superstar "Bo" and upset NT by 3. Play like that tonite and NT loses by 15.
Denver does not want to get into an running game with them.Half court,go inside to Yuri, kick out to Walker or Wetrich.NT has the old problem of "whoever takes the ball out from the out of bounds never see's it again.
NT should get a big crowd tonite. They are near 1st place and winning for the 1st time in yrs.Maybe Coach Jones can get his kids to play a little defense...maybe get an offensive foul...but...his players might say "whats that".
NT wins by 3.

Poon..the over under for the Cuse game right? To tough for me..

Lost yest with St Peter.Did win for smaller plays with Manhattan and Marist. But Peter was a strong play....My bad..
But I don't want to sound like Peyton Manning but if I didn't have to shovel the snow, unlock my car door that froze[30 minuts],get my daughter ready to go back to college, cook dinner,etc... I blame my wife...I would have had more time to study Fairfield...
I don't have offensive linemen but ....
