I am starting to look at reducing some of my costs around tv. I of course mainly watch sports and some local news and the kids watch their junk

I came across something from Dish Network called Sling TV You get a good section of channels for $20

They also offer a deal on the Roku player which you can then get more free channels

thoughts? It goes away from the new fad of multiple tv's in one room

BSU, my best friend uses it and so far likes it a lot. He runs it thru his XBOX One. My cable bill is 200 a month and my wife and I both are getting tired of it because it's such a waste of money. Outside of live sports I can watch everything I want to on XBMC and pretty much do anyway. I think you can get a free trial so that's what I would do to try it out.

The one thing that would hold me back from cutting the cord and getting Sling is that I have kids and they're watching tv in the other room most of the time. In order to do that I would need two Sling accounts. 40 is still a good deal but I don't understand why if you're getting their service you can't get it on all of your tvs.

I cut the cord earlier this year. $25 doesn't seem bad at all for the regular channels and sports channels. Why do I still have Netflix? I keep on asking myself this and need to cancel it again soon. That one month free pkg they have is tricky. Amazon Prime is just as good.

I hear you,brother...we have a big package from Verizon and our "interductory offer" runs out in a month and a half...

I love all the choices but we may have to trim some corners ourselves...

We pay $125 a month for dish for the whole package plus he has some sports package. We would never be able to cut ours because on top of the 26 things I dvr various times of the year, plus what he watches and on top of what the kids watch- we would all go nuts without tv.

The popular media group VICE will be replacing the H2 channel pretty soon. They have a range of really great documentaries if you've never seen em before.

How far away are you from "The Big City"? My biggest concern is reception as I live in the sticks.

Actually, I'm pretty close. I have to say I get CBS, Fox, and a few other good channels. Everything else is pretty much shit. However, if you get an unlocked Apple TV and stream torrents you can pretty much watch what you want. I would only suggest Amazon Prime other than that. Cut my cable bill completely.

I so badly want to cut my Direct TV but I can't go without my soccer. You can find streams for it but I can't watch those. I need HD quality.
