the way gonzaga will approach the west coast conference tourney? it could happen. and thats why these mid-major chalks who are already in the ncaa tourney come out flat as sh1t.

creighton is already in the dance. so their pathetic effort in the mvc tourney last night and tonight isnt a huge surprise.

could there be a similar lack of effort from the zags?

gonzaga is already in the tourney and is laying double digits to a decent st.marys team.

these heavy chalks just cant match the intensity level of their dog-counterparts- simply because, for these "already-in-the-tourney-chalks" dont have their season on the line, whereas these dogs do. no matter how superior the chalk is, and no matter how bad the dog sucks, the intensity level and sense of urgency is rarely there from the favorite thats already guaranteed to be in the dance.

ive found it applies to major conference chalks as well- but really applies to the mid-major heavy chalks who are guaranteed to be in the dance.

A sweet opinion at that I read an article earlier in the season that states the same thing you are saying and I have found it to be true in the early going. I already have St. Mary's from this afternoon.....:D

scoop:

i agree. at this time of year, i dont understand why people dont look "dog-first" and THEN if they cant find any appealing dogs, look for possible value favorites.

but looking "chalk-first" is absolute suicide at this time of year.

theres money to be made on dogs in these conference tourneys
