Do you believe at all in the ability to influence the dice? I've been playing more and more recently and was looking up different strategies around the web (some fun ones out there) and came across this several times.

It seems people actually practice throwing the dice and believe this is a skill they can develop. I'm not sure I think there is a more random occurrence out there then the landing of the dice.

One forum I browsed through was a very tight little click of people who believe this almost to the point of being a cult, it's unreal. They will ban you quicker than shit if you don't agree with them. They have tables in their houses to practice on and compare notes on how they set the dice, etc... I guess I just can't believe it's possible to accurately throw a certain number even 10% of the time.

Their thought process is if you set the dice a certain way you just have to get good at keeping the dice on their axis and you can at least avoid a 7 and depending on where you land the dice you can dictate the number that shows up. In every casino I have played in you have to hit the back wall which is made up of pointed rubber backing. If the dice land a fraction of a centimeter one way or the other the dice will turn more or less making it impossible to accurately control the outcome, no?

They go so far as to not play or just play the minimum when a "random" shooter is throwing the dice. The best roll I have been part of is one I threw and believe me, I am certainly a random thrower. When the dice are pushed to me I grab the closest two and fling em down the table to short hop the back wall as to keep them in play as often as possible so I don't hold up the game with dice flying off the table. When the stick guy gives them back to me to throw again I pick them up however he pushes them to me without fucking with the dice at all and I fling em again.

I threw 9 points one hand with 5 come out naturals and only one craps for a plus 12 on pass line wins. 5 different points (would have loved to make that last one) and a lot of numbers in between. That was just by flinging the dice. I bet those sharp shooters would have liked to be in on that roll instead of standing around waiting for one of the pros to shoot.

Am I way out of line here or is the idea of dice influencing just stupid? Is this a skill you can acquire? I don't have a table nor do I have the time/patience to even consider doing it, I'm just wondering if I'm missing something.

Also, if you have a good craps strategy please share it.

I am a low level craps player. I don't bet more than $75 (line, field, fire, odds, pressing) but one day at a Madjack golf outing, I was at the table and Wineguy comes up and stands next to me. We roll for about 5 min. or so and he is betting in line with me (about 30 bucks on the table) then a woman with big titties comes up and is the new shooter.

Next thing I know, Wineguy pulls out a wad that would choke a fucking whale. He peels out $800 and looks at me, with about six grand in his other hand.

"It's a titty roller. You should man up and spread some cabbage."

I didn't. I kept mine at the $50 range. For the next 4 points, titties rolled quite a while and I won about $300 give or take. Wineguy walks away with 5K (11K total in a big fucking wad) and bought me a drink at the bar.

"You need to know," he said...."when titties pull up, you pull out."

And that's the best advice I have ever gotten about craps.

I know we would never like a 7 in the middle of a great roll but if it was to happen, at least we would have a pretty good idea who just walked and say, "Hey guys!"

Yes there are people who gain a small advantage with dice setting. You then have to play a shitload of hands to take advantage of the small edge over the long haul.

I have a visual of penguindick practicing throwing dice in his basement while watching the Stanley Cup his team got swept from. Pengy, please stop, it will not help you. The angles are ever evolving coming from your hands and you cannot hit the same place on the table each time if your life depended on it. Total malarkey. Saint is correct.
