knowing what program it is kinda makes a difference in offering redemption options.

are these thankYou points? American Express Points?

This. American Express points are more value than a 100k Hilton. 100K delta is 4 round trip flights.

If this is a banking reward your pretty much fucked.

Big fan of the Amex here. They have the largest variation of rewards...airline tix, hotels, tvs, gift cards, cash...you name it. The best bang is gift cards. 10000 points gets you 100$

Amex is a good catch all for a variety of things. When using rewards cards, you want to plan ahead - if you know you want to use it for travel, get a airline branded card or hotel card from a chain you intend to use. You will undoubtedly reap a better value of your points.
example: 25,000 Amex Points will get you $250 - which you could take and apply to a airline ticket if you wanted.
25,000 United Airlines Miles/Points will get you a free round trip in continental US.. which could be significantly more costly than $250.

best advice - know the rewards you are seeking and plan ahead in the card you choose.
