Cruz compiled a 9-6 record with a 4.01 ERA for Class AA West Tennessee and is considered among the top prospects in the Cubs' organization.

In his last start for West Tennessee last Thursday, Cruz was roughed up for six runs and nine hits in just 3 1/3 innings in an 11-4 loss at Birmingham.

Former Cub Ruben Quevedo (2-1, 5.40 ERA) will make his fourth start for Milwaukee. The 22-year-old righthander has pitched well in his last two starts after getting roughed up for seven runs and eight hits in three innings in his Brewers' debut against Atlanta on August 4.

In his last outing, Quevedo allowed two runs and four hits over seven innings as Milwaukee held on for a 5-4 victory over Philadelphia on Thursday.

Quevedo compiled a 3-10 record with a 7.47 ERA for Chicago in 2000. He is facing the Cubs for the first time.
