Cubs seem to have gotten Nomar for a couple minor leaguers and a journeyman shortstop Alex Gonzalez.

Boston really wanted to dump Nomar bad. They even ate a chunk of his salary.

You'll understand soon enough. Two rag arms just switched jerseys.

Love watching the big-market team on the Northside get everything they wanted :cursin: :cursin:

Loaiza's arm has been dead all year, velocity down 5-10 mph. Cant really see this as an upgrade for Yankees, but they were desperate for starting pitching.

On flip side, White Sox pick up talent loaded Contreras who clearly couldn't handle New York. But this is the type of guy who could flourish in a new spot.

The White Sox certainly got the better "upside" in this trade.

Hendry is just a flat out stud!

The man has been working magic since the day he took the job for that club.

Still way under-rated as the best GM in the league IMO.

And he has to work against the stream with that worthless mgr on the field.

contreras doesn't have the mental make-up to pitch in big games.

he got bombed by the mets, who are not known for their heavy lumber & is intimidated big time by the red sox.

as long as the chisox stay in the pennant race, contreras will not do much.

i also think he will be intimidated by playing in chicago & will be nothing more than a .500 pitcher.

Billy made the mistake of showing his cards. He gloated a bit. Everyone in the league is onto him now. When that book came out, a lot of GM's were slighted. You are probably correct but we will see how things go for him in the future. Those big egos won't forget. I know Kenny Williams was one of his victims....or was he? How is Faulk and Bradwhatever (the other lefty) doing now? When they were both on the A's, they initially did well. Not the same now.

Totally agreed. Cubs have spent a lot of money for years, but they've finally gotten someone who gets everything that they need (like a hall of famer for their fifth starter). If they could just get rid of the noose that is Sammy and his contract, they'd contend for the series EVERY year.
