I like Jacque Jones. He'll be an asset. It will be interesting to see if they trade Patterson or keep him as a backup. They offered him arbitration but I think that's to cover their butts if he declines it and signs with another team, Cubs will be a draft pick. Just like they lost one by signing Jones.

Who's next for the Cubbies? My guess is getting rid of Patterson. Not sure what they'll get for him. Anything would be an upgrade

According to cbssportsline.com

Cubs are in talks with Balt for a trade involving Prior for Tejada. Oakland is somehow involved in a possible 3 way deal. Zito amoung others are included. Who's going where wasn't brought up. Hmmmmmmm

Stay tuned

Latest rumor: Patterson to Boston for a minor leaguer. And not a top prospect either. Corey has fallen and can't get up.

I wouldn't give you a broken bat and bag of balls for that bum Patterson. He is and always will be a loser who can't take a pitch. Tell Jim Hendry to read Moneyball and learn from Billy Beane. Cubs always pick up losers like Nomar who can't take walks and kill their team.

I've read the Tribune and nothing regarding Patterson and the O's. But I sure would like to see getting SOMETHING in return. I wonder if the bag of balls are used or new?

Cubs get a couple of A-ball players. Hard to believe this was the best you could do, no matter how bad Patterson was last year. This club is going nowhere in 2006.

Even disregarding the massive amounts of money the park, radio rights, super station, and scalping their own tickets, they now raised ticket prices again and I believe have added more seats. Hendry not only has said that he's fine with the current team, but he and Dusty Toothpick may be given contract extensions. Unfreakingbelievable.

If ALL the pitching holds up through the entire season they might be able to make a run at things. Still no real team speed and not enough in the offensive department but they did shore up the pen a bit with some decent talent.

Hope D Lee is up to the task again.

I jjst feel this 2006 club has no direction. Can't believe that Hendry is going to battle in the last year of his contract with this club. Most Cubs fans are overrating Murton based on 51 games last year, Cedeno is an unknown and they seem intent on Trading Todd Walker, a .300 lefty bat. Jacque Jones will be average at best so that basically leaves D-Lee and A-Ram who was hurt a lot last year. Lucky if they see .500.

I agree with Davoso on Murton. I don't think he's an everyday player. Is Cedeno or Nefi either?

Davoso,

If you were a GM, would you give me anything for Corey Patterson. I have never seen a worse season at the plate than he had last year. He has no ability to take a pitch and that is fatal. Trust me, that's the best move they have made. Other than that, I don't understand Hendry, major dissappointment starting with his 2 year disastrous Garciappara experiment.

Don't think Hendry is done yet. There is still alot of talk about Walker. Local radio personality (and long time Cub's guy Mike Murphy) sounds pretty sure there will still be some more moves. He also thinks what has been done to this point has been pretty lame. He pays much more attention to the Tribune situation than anyone else I read/hear.

I agree with you IO. I believe Hendry is working on something. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I don't believe he is satisfied with the current roster. Whether it is getting Soriano or Zito or somebody we haven't even thought about. But something before camp starts.
