Cubs looking at Westbrook

The Chicago Cubs have talked to the Cleveland Indians about a deal for pitcher Jake Westbrook, according to baseball moles. The Tribe would get pitcher Ryan Dempster among others in return for Westbrook (15-10 4.17era).

would be a steal for the cubs. westbrook is about as reliable a pitcher as youre going to find in terms of durability and consistency every time out. sounds like a plausible deal just because the indians are looking for a closer. but parting with westbrook should bring a little more back even though his numbers arent eye-popping

Not sure who else the Cubs will have to throw in to make the deal happen. But the Cubbies have an excess of mid-level relievers. I agree, it would be a nice pick up.

If Cleveland is looking for a closer, why would they look at Dempster? He may have had that title, but he sure as hell didn't prove it...

Dempster wouldn't be on any of my lists either, but if Cleveland wants him, I'll help pack his bags to get rid of his sorry ass
