Lets use this thread to discuss the Cubs/Phil game for today. The Bos Gm. 1 thread I thought was very informative and thought we could do the same on this game. Be back with my opinion(s) in a few......

This is probably simple thinking but it's hard for me to resist an over of 7 with +110 juice on it. Prior isn't pitching, I don't trust either bullpen really, and i think each team can get 3 runs today at least. Like i said, really simple, but that's where my money went.

Bound-

I see 2 low ERA's in Clement 3.26 and Padilla in 3.48 last 3 starts and year numbers about the same. My Cubbies bats were hot yesterday but they are still last in baseball. The phil's bat aren't that hot either .239 last 10 games. I think I read somewhere that the wind is blowing in at 15 mph- can anybody confirm this. I hate to bet soley on wind but do see some under factors while 7 is a low total. I will wait until closer to game time and see what other comments are replied here. Also what did this total start at?

Agree on that total. Cubs seem to have a pulse again and Phil can hit, just not 2 batters in a row it seems. I believe that Phil can score 3 and Cubs even more today. This is what I have read that I based my choices upon.

Padilla lost to the Cubs on Thursday, surrendering five runs - four earned - and seven hits in six innings of a 6-4 defeat. He's lost three of four career decisions against Chicago. Padilla is 0-2 in his last four starts.

Clement beat Padilla and the Phillies on Thursday, as he allowed two runs and five hits with four walks and eight strikeouts in 6 1-3 innings. He's 6-1 in nine career starts against Philadelphia. Clement is 3-1 with a 2.30 ERA in his last four starts, striking out 37 in 27 1-3 innings.

Now the wind is a factor;

Temp: 71? - Partly Sunny
Wind: 14 mph from NE
Relative humidity: 66%
Barometer: N/A inches
Visibility: 10 miles

Based on that I go with:

Straight 118/100 Pending

MLB Cubs (Chicago) ML -118 Pending (AG)

2 Teams Parlay 100/279 Pending

MLB Phillies (Philadelphia) OV +7 +105 Pending V Padilla-R-M Clement-R (LP)

MLB Cubs (Chicago) ML -118 Pending (AG)

Cubs -120

The two starting pitchers in this matchup appear to be even (Clement 8-6, 3.63 ERA vs. Padilla 10-6, 3.28 ERA). Clement is (1-0, 2.84 ERA) against Phillies this year, and Padilla is (0-1, 6.00 ERA) against Cubs this year.

In the end, however, I decided to put my money on the team that is playing better baseball right now (Cubs). Chicago has won 9 of its last 12 games, while Philadelphia has lost 5 in a row and 6 of their last 10 overall.

Furthermore, the Phillies have a poor road record (19-28). The Cubs aren't much better at home (23-25), but they are at home in front of their home crowd.

Good luck!
;)

Philadelphia Phillies at Chicago Cubs, 2:20 p.m.
Partly sunny. Winds blowing in from left field at 15-25 m.p.h. Game-time temperature: Near 75.

Still looking at this one. Wakefield forgot he had a game today:mad: It's early though. I just hope the Bosox bats come alive soon.

Like the over

Like the over

Using some of Nolan's knowledge, 7 is an excellent number for the over. When you figure, a 3-3 game means at least a push on an over of 7, the lack of the hook makes it a reasonable play. Each pitcher's ERA is 3+...logic dictates over 7
Just my 2 cents

Bowmans had the line as high as 9 and then it plummeted when they changed it to 7 u/20. The wind is NE at 14 now and that will keep balls in some. I don't know. I have to go with what I decided or I will second guess myself all day. This Bos. game is looking to hot. Thank God I scammed that TB/over parlay. (I think).

Fox sports reporting that the wind is blowing directly in from center field with gusts as high as 35 mph

Oh ya, one other reason to play the over.... everything indicates it's the wrong play...wind blowing in etc. Following "good" logic has cost me 10 units the last 3 days, so I'm going with the public conception for a change. Over 7

I have decided to lay off this game altogether due to the weird weather conditions that are taking place. 7-4 in ny Boston game now:D Think I'll just watch it and wait for later games. Sturtze may not make it out of the 3rd!

I hate to bet on just wind but I am going under the 7 for 130/100. I just don't see the Cubs putting alot of basehits together and Clement should hold down Philly with available bullpen for Cubs at 1.54 ERA last 10 games. Wind to strong...

That is just my opinion I could be wrong...Dennis Miller

good luck

Good luck to everyone on their bets. I am going to really take a close look at a couple of the later games.
GL & PEACE, HAIL:D

I love early games and threads like this when everyone chimes in and allows you all the facts on a game so you can make an educated gamble rather than a blind one.
