The Pirates? bullpen now has a 7.51 ERA, the worst in baseball by more than a run and a half. Two of the back-end guys, Felipe Vazquez and Michael Feliz, have stabilized after early turbulence. George Kontos has allowed a home run in consecutive outings after starting the season strong. The other five guys have allowed 20 earned runs in 211/3 innings.
Glasnow had pitched well in three outings before entering with a 4-4 tie in Wednesday?s sixth inning. Some bad luck and some bad execution later, the Pirates trailed 8-4.
?Probably toward the end I could have made a couple better pitches, but overall I felt alright,? Glasnow said. ?Just some bad luck, but that?s baseball.?
