Coach Calhoun is Very pleased with his frontcourt and it is as good as ANY.......and probably deeper than ANY......
Josh Boone 6'10....workhorse,knows his role,strong boards, follows and puts-back to about 10 p per game...Okafor protege will block 2 to3 per game.Won starting job as frosh and didn't look back.
Ed Nelson....6'8" 265.........4 or 5 wherever. Georgia Tech transfer and former ACC freshman of the year. Ask Okafor if he can play. Gave Emeka ALL he could handle in practice.
Hilton Armstrong.. 6'11" 235... He's NOT going away. Won a starting job as a freshman. Lost it to Boone and Villanueva... BUT...according to Calhoun he's having a whale of a pre-season.
Charlie Villanueva ....6'11" 245....deferred to Okafor and B Gordon as scoring went last year but Calhoun wants him to be "THE MAN" this year. He has put on 15 lbs of muscle and is READY
Marcus White ...6'9" ...pound for pound..the best rebounder on team......D and junk points
role player,off red shirt year,good contributions the year before.
Denham Brown 6'6" 220 ...will get the start at the 3 but wont last if he doesn't perform from the get-go....40% from 3 but lacks confidence..not talent
Rudy Gay ....6'9" never seen him...... but Coach C says that he's the next "special player" in a long line of Ray Allen types..Will take a little while to acclimate to the ROUGH and ugly...but I hear he's getting fouled all over in practice cuz he's just too quick.
Backcourt...........
Lose Taliek and B Gordon .....but.....
Point will go to Marcus Williams...back after grade problems last year....at 6'3" he has size and great passing ability....
Rashaad Anderson at 6'5"...size and a 40% 3pt shot....Calhoun doesn't worry about his O its the D
Rashaad will have some very big games offensively
Antonio Kellogg 6'3 ..190... 25 ppg in hs and Defensive specialist........will be needed as a 1 now that AJ Price is out
All in all........CT will be there IF they can get that elusive Floor generalship and team cohesiveness...
They can go far....Strong....quick...and have shooters
