As much as I oppose the war, that's not a fair statistic to bring up in my view. Saying, "I told you so," at this point is both premature and unhelpful.

That said, I do think that it shows poor leadership if there is anyone in government who didn't expect this or something close to it. If they thought we'd be in and out in a year or less then they clearly were viewing the invasion through a myopic point of view.

No one argues the point anymore we were BS'd. Our problem is how to get out and save face. Seems Left/Right/Middle are starting to agree. It's time to give Iraq a time schedule to get chit ready to take over. And not years but months up to a year tops. They have a story out now Iraq forces police and Army now number over 285000 trained men. Are any of them any good?

In my opinion the whole thing revolves around three questions.

1. Where we right to Invade Iraq?
2. Was the invasion and the occupation thought out and prepared for correctly?
3. When do we leave?

If you think the answer to 1 and 2 is anything other than yes then you must hold the people in charge responsible. And they should not be rewarded to provide the answer to number 3.

I think article depends on what you want to imply with your title.

As many troops kiiled in war after 3 years as in 911--
or as many U.S. civilians killed in one day compared to 3 years of war.

both or true but put entirely diff reflection on stats.

I did see that story in Saturday paper where 34% of those deaths were from our poor or lower very low income levels. A trend that shows in WWII it was just 26%. Even Nam was 31%. The highest income level is down to 17% from 23%. I'm not sure if that means more smart ones are ducking. Or just those that had a horse shoe when they were born. Maybe they feel this dirty work is not there's to worry about.

now remember...that stat includes afghanistan as well as iraq.....

i doubt that many disagree with our action in afghanistan.....

and think about it....how much more intense would the insurgency against the invasion of afghanistan have been had there been no second front in iraq?....

not stating any viewpoint on iraq...right or wrong..just commenting...

as for the stats...c`mon...using the bizarro logic of the msm, we lost wwII.....

the u.s. suffered 3,435 casualties during the japanese raid on pearl harbor......at the conclusion of wwII, u.s. casualties totaled 407,300 killed, and scores more injured...

therefore, following f-cktard msm logic, the u.s. lost wwII 118 times....

tank god fdr, truman, and churchill did not employ bizarro msm logic.....

How does anyone buy into this logic? This isn't WW1? There really are no "fronts"? We certainly aren't making things any more difficult on the enemy with this 2nd front in Iraq.

You said it yourself - very few can argue against our actions in Afghanistan. That was the only "front" we needed. We were doing very well there before we got distracted. A few more troops than the paltry amount we've kept there, and we could have driven out the Taliban permanently AND kept the poppy warlords out.

Thanks to us, over 90% of the world's heroin is coming from Afghanistan. That's just fkn brilliant.

I really don't think we ever cared about Afghanistan. We were very slow in getting over there, sent way to few troops, quickly turned attention to Iraq, now Afghanistan isn't secure and we have to keep up a fight that should have been completely resolved 4+ years ago.

Our incompetent leaders are the worst military strategists this country has ever seen.

we DID drive the taliban out of power....

we DID remove saddam....

we won`t be there forever...we didn`t intend to occupy forever....

it`ll soon be...within a few years....time for the established governments of iraq and afghanistan to do the heavy lifting....

if we leave...or "deploy"(lol)....within a date certain....and if that date certain is earlier than these governments feel is necessary to become stable......as the murtha`s and kerry`s and dean`s wish.... ..and the governmental leaders of iraq and afghanistan are overtaken and murdererd, then the islamists will have won.....will be even more emboldened...

and the cut and run dems will blame it all on bush...and imo, won`t be disappointed....

that`s my opinion...

and btw...isn`t bin laden`s beef with us that he wants us out of the middle east?.....

how does "redeploying" to a different arab country appease(and that`s the right word) the islamists?

thank me very much...

Well it's good to see it's all over G W. We won everything we wanted to. So I guess we can bring home every one from Afghanistan And Iraq. Wait a second must be something still going on. Our generals say we can't send no one home from Iraq and they want another 7500 men in Afghanistan brought back. G W where did you get this info all is well. And why is any number Of deaths ok. What happen to wanted Mr Dead or a live. Is there Something we are not being told. Maybe you have that info. Oh by the way ask the Mothers and Dads of those that have been killed if it's OK. Just numbers?? I think they mean much more.

My service is no big deal. I went in and served. Compared to what some others here such as DTB went through I was Blessed. I just wish we would learn our lesson a little better in how we put our guys and gals in harms way.
