LSU got a big blow to the pitching staff.....see below

"Bumstead was named LSU's starter on Friday after scheduled starter Lane Mestepey was scratched. Mestepey suffered a shoulder injury in the Tigers' celebratory pileup after winning their super regional last week.

Laval said Bumstead would throw Sunday and might be available Monday."

Looks like LSU is one pitcher short? A good one too.

South Carolina is the better team.

Also Like Miami over Cal St. Fullerton, CSF threw there best guy and they are not as deep as Miami pitching.

Gamecocks are the more fundamentally sound of the 2 teams and they have an edge defensively because LSU D looks average at best. Tigers are good up the middle, but imo the Harris brothers are liabilities at the corners and Patterson looks lost in LF. LSU hits from 1-9 and, with few exceptions, everyone can leave the yard. Off the top of my head I can only think of 2 hitters below .300 and one of them, Ivan Nacarata, is swinging a good stick in the postseason

LHP Lane Mestapay is in good form (sub 1.48 era postseason) following a rough early campaign which can be attributed to shoulder surgery last year. Mestapay has tons of postseason experience and is known as a big game pitcher. If he shows any lingering effects from his stiff neck and shoulder resulting from a totally unnecessary pile-up after winning their SuperRegional, Smoke Laval will have to give the ball to Clay Dirks or Justin Meier. I would prefer Dirks because he has performed well in long relief and that would allow Meier to start the next game.

LSU took 2 of 3 from then undefeated Gamecocks this season. Last season at the CWS, LSU went out in 2 including an 11-10 loss to these Cocks. Also worth noting, SEC is a paltry 1-5 so far this CWS. You can be sure that both teams will be fired up this afternoon. It should be a fun one to watch. I'm certain that it will come as no surprise that I like LSU's chances here, although I do not see them going too much further unless Mestapay pitches deep into the game this afternoon.

The Gamecock starter is Aaron Rawl. He is a junior and his record is 11-4. He was not drafted b/c he is too small (5-9; 170) and he is not overly talented, but he is a competitor and has a lot of experience in Omaha (he beat GT two years ago but got rocked by Texas in the Championship game on 3 days rest). Probably not even one of the top 4 pitchers on USC talent-wise (USC had pitchers taken in the 1st-round, 2nd-round, and 6th-round of the MLB draft).

He generally throws strikes and relies on his fielders to make plays. His era is about 4.3 and I expect LSU to score quite a few runs today. He beat LSU earlier this season (12-5) BUT allowed 10 hits and five runs in 6-2/3 innings.

I think that the public is wrong on this....... One of my angles on this is how well LSU played yest. oor whenever it last was. Unlike Tex and Miami I think dogs have a shot on these games. Who knows. That's why I have only 75.00 layed.

How did LSU get into the World Series, they are awful, 15 hits, 12 runs, 5 or more which are unearned and three errors? This is like a teeball game for the cocks.

Well, LSU was definitely not the most fundamental of teams.

Miami tonight? Does anyone like the other side of this game. CAll State Fullerton can pitch a little.

Texas is the team this year, play them everygame!!!!!!!!!!
