Stars pull off Devil of a deal

The Dallas Stars and the New Jersey Devils have pulled off the blockbuster of the day. Dallas has traded centre Joe Nieuwendyk and winger Jamie Langenbrunner for centre Jason Arnott and winger Randy McKay along with a first-round draft pick.

The 35-year-old Nieuwendyk has tallied 23 goals and 47 points in 67 games this season. He is widely regarded as one of the best faceoff men in the league. Meanwhile Langenbrunner has been considered a mild disapointment this season. Only 27, he has accumulated 10 goals and 26 points in 68 games, which is below team expectations.

Arnott is currently out with a sore back. In 63 games this year, he has 22 goals with 41 points. The rugged veteran McKay has played in 55 games this season scoring 6 goals along with 7 assists. He has also amassed 65 minutes in penalties.
