Woah... I wouldn't put any utensil in the Dodgers. The Padres rotation is a lot thinner than last year, and now their backstop will be a defensive liability (who is more or less over the hill on offense anyway).

In any case... I'll be pulling for the Giants.

Mikey P will always be a Met -- he's going to the Hall of Fame with an NY on his cap.

blackman, normally we agree, but i highly doubt he wears anything but an la logo when he hits cooperstown.

padre, you can have him, his career was over a while ago. not sure why you want him in a pitchers park where defense is a premium and throwing out runners is key.

i never was a really big piazza fan. respect what he did on the offensive side, but i'm of the school that to make the hall you have to go both ways (even though he does go both ways in life, he doesn't go both ways on the field.) he's one of the worst defensive catchers ever and will certainly be the worst to ever grace cooperstown. his first base move didn't work either. he's just not blessed with a glove. anyway, no hate for the padres, just the giants.

enjoy looking up at us in the standing this year padre. :)

Piazza was washed up two years ago.

He is to stuborn to go to AL where he may extend his career as a very good DH. Without the grind of catching, he might get his swing back.

You will not be so happy when runners are stealing him blind.

with all due respect. perhaps our definition of a long time differs. 4 months to me does not make a long time.

2005 Dodgers 11 wins Padres 7 wins H2H

2004 Dodgers 10 win Padres 9 wins H2H

so, the last two years the dodgers have taken the season series each time.

I don't understand the misery that accompanies being a Padres fan. Again, no ill will to you or others that have stepped down that wrong path in life. I truly feel sorry for you.

Again, no disrespect, but enjoy looking up at us in the standings.

Mike Piazza is going to the Hall of Fame?

he's a lock first ballot hall of famer. again, im not a big fan, but he has better offensive numbers than any catcher to ever play the game including bench, munson and others. he's a career .311 hitter as a catcher and has 397 home runs, so hes' gonna have at least 400. he'll finish with 2000 + hits which has to be more than any other catcher, although i haven't looked that up. he'll also end up scoring 1000 runs. he's also got the "it" factor working for him in that he came from nowhere, drafted only on a whim and being the godson of lasorda in the 100th round or something like that.

like i said, not a fan, and you or i may disagree on plenty of things and apparently i'm not myself, but i can guarantee with certainty, piazza is a shoe-in for cooperstown.

Very interesting. The sentiment here on the East Coast is that Piazza will go into the Hall as a Met without a doubt. I guess it is based on how he took the team from turmoil and carried them to a few playoff performances and one World Series appearance. Couple that with his post 9-11 heroics and he's a big time player in Met history. I can see a strong basis for an argument about him going in as either team. Living out here I've never really heard much discussion about him potentially going in as a Dodger, I guess it will be a hot topic in years to come.

Agree with everything you said, he is a lock HOF player, since his offensive stats blow away every other catcher in history. His defense is atrocious, but is overlooked because of his star power and big stick.
