The standing record is eight minutes and 58 seconds.

David Blaine the

self-promoted successor to Houdini will attempt to break the record by two seconds. Two seconds isn't impressive, but nine mins. is a long time...

So Jackkers...Will you watch?

I think I'm going to pass. One, I have been keeping up with 24 and it goes head 2 head with the second hour of the event. Second, it is a two hour event. He is only holding his breath for nine minuets. Has television programming really gotten this bad?

what is it about this guy that seems to bother so many people? for whatever reason, there are a lot of people (media included) that cant stand him. while i wont be around later on to see this 'stunt', ive always been amazed at some of the stuff this guy can do. some of it is downright freaky.

I put a small prop bet on his breaking the record, so I'll probably try to catch the last 10 minutes. I'm hoping that, given all the hype, he's not going to screw this up...

I know he really bothers me. Looks like a tool.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but the whole daredevil stuff just reeks of the "mommy didn't pay enough attention to me" type of person. So he has to continually do weird shit to get noticed.

That being said, the stuff he pulls off is unbelievable sometimes. I wonder how the television promotion will handle it if he fails, or gets seriously injured.

Does anyone really believe he is holding his breath for 9 minutes? Surely there is some illusion to the whole thing.

I just find it funny that Stu Scott is the color commentator for this.

Can't believe I actually watched this crap.

not kidding. I think he has sold his soul to the devil or something. Like in Charlie Daniels song, lol. That, or he's possessed!

didn't you see his hands? shriveled big time!

anyway, i watched the last bit of it tonite and was mildly amused. Not too much leeway there to add in any "funny stuff" magic sleight of hand trickery. I think the only "sneaky" thing they could have done to help him would have been pumping pure oxygen into his breathing apparetus for the last 20 minutes or so he was on it. Other than that, just willl power baby.

I agree with sixfive, I think he is some sort of weird spirit being. Maybe it is his schitck to be a zombie type emotionless person all the time, but he seems freaky. Not of this world freaky.
