I believe in equality and rights of every citizen. Gays should be allowed to marry imo. Most closed-minded folks i know (including friends and relatives) list the definition of marriage as the reason they are against gay marriage. I feel that is a cop out, and that homophobia and bigotry are the actual reasons. At one time, blacks were regarded as subhuman and women were 2nd class citizens. Fortunately, steps have been made towards racial and gender equality. Fortunately, it seems that my generation is far less bigotted than my father's, and I am sure my sons' generation will be far less so than mine. It will probably take some time, but it'll happen. Better late than never if you ask me.....
Also, please find the following definition of bigot, which I included for your convenience....
bigot (ˈbɪɡət)
? n
a person who is intolerant of any ideas other than his or her own, esp on religion, politics, or race
