Bear..... i'm gonna have a couple more questions for you on the BP issue involved. Currently i'm a smoker again :( when my BP skyrocked, figured i'd chance it to see if it would come down for a pre-employment physical, and it did... (not as much as i would have liked it to, but think it will pass for THAT particular job) gonna have another physical coming up for a job that i don't think will be as forgiving.....LOL) while not smoking, my BP rose back up to the 190's/120's range........

got thru the first physical in Chicago with a recording of 138/92 .... think for the other part time job i'm working on, the bottom number will be required to be below 90 (but not certain) how long do you think i would have to be off the nicotine completely before by BP went back to normal readings without it?

Bear...... I can't thank you enough, your support has been tremendous.

It's day 19 for me and I'm feeling fantastic. :grins: I quit cold turkey. I don't think I would have made without all the support that I received from here. :s6:

I was hoping Jack was going to give it another go. He was so excited at first.
:sadwave:

I am NOT a SMOKER!!

Your blood pressure is not high because you didnt smoke! Ask your doctor! Smoking will increase your blood pressure and heart beat!! I use to believe that smoking 'relaxed' me but it relaxed my mind because I forgot about everything EXCEPT smoking.. Check it out, ask your doctor!! Smoking increases your heart rate.

If you want to quit, use an aid like gum or a patch. I used the gum and it worked for me. The sensation of the nicotine kicked in when I used it and after a few weeks I was ok. The MOST important fact to quit smoking.. You need to WANT to be a NON-Smoker.. otherwise you will fail no matter what aid you use.

Good luck!! Speak with your doctor.

BP

BP

BM,

My bp was coming in consistently at the 160s/mid 90s....before meds...It comes with my territory.
I'm diabetic and my doc really wants me to drop more weight.................for my sugar and for BP
Down to 230 from 250.feel great ...but need now to get the rest of the job done! I never saw my BP rise when I quit smoking.........back then it was 140s/90s.
I take lisinopril and I'm 120s/70s now. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor and can't take it with some other drugs a/o if pregnant....works well...but I don't want to be on it! sooooo will start dieting in earnest. NOW........salt is in everything ..BUT eliminate it and the BP goes down...(cold cuts, breads, soups etc. most processed foods) cut down big time and the BP falls. Lose weight and BP falls...meds drop it immediatly....
I never saw a non-smoking effect???

My best
bear
