Way to go TJB!!!
You're another strong one who has this under control
Keep it up!
Va Nurse....Congratulations!! I know what you are talking about..
I had that battle for a year once and guess what?? I talked myself (I knew I would eventually) into having just one "once in a while" Well, nedless to say it was instantly over and I was a smoker again.
NOW...Having backslid once......the last time I did this was the END. I REALLY THOUGHT OF MYSELF AS A NON SMOKER......NO more ever...I stopped identifying myself as a SMOKER who had quit!.........So now 5 years later there is NO possibility of me smoking again. Thats where you have to go in your head...You are a NON SMOKER forever...fwiw

You guys are coming into the home stretch with a lotta gas in the tank. Keep it up! Man, so many success stories this time..I would not have believed it! You're gonna love your new smoke-free life and also be able to bankroll a few Kentucky Derby bets with cigarrette savings..:s5:
Keep up the good work!!

Thanks Bear. You and Dawgball and really everyone who posts in this thread each day are really a big help. You've been all a great support and I never expected it to be so easy to cut this habit. I think most would agree that I say its "easy" because I really do want to quit. Not like the last time when I knew it was bad but didnt really WANT to quit.

Its mind over matters boys and gals. Just say NO and it will be fine.

I AM NOT A SMOKER!!!!!

I was there for you bear when you stopped gave you some great tips but yet i kept on with the copenhagen, have done it for 18 years and was up to 3 rolls a week yes 3 rolls not 3 cans i do that in a day keep it in from when i wake up till i go to bed, well talked to jack on tues and he got me to try to stop for those who don't know snuff copenhagen has as much nic as 5 smokes at once so started the day after i talked to jack went through my last 2 cans that day and first day sucked big time least i have xanax, i like my snuff and like to spit and having it between check and gum, bought a bunch of nutter scotch candy and keep it where snuff use to be day 2 sucked even more was a major bitch to be around, i pay almost 50 bucks a roll out here so that is a extra 600 bucks a month. I have taken extra xanax because i really like to dip and spit. was going to keep this quite not a big deal to all but jack said others were doing it so i joined in easier when have more then 1 person like when bear quit, this is not easy getting off booze was easier after first 2 to 3 days in rehab before i came on here as a poster, have just keept hard candy in and have stayed in house so not tempted to buy it i will be fine by monday, it would really suck with xanax. i get cold sweats like when i was detoxing off booze but gets better each 4 hours that is when i start to get mean and just pop a xanax and try and do something to keep mind off of it , go to my gym in the house and work out or just hit stair master and the ellipitical for 30 mins and shower after that. but it sucks only real bad habit i had left, but the money saved will be nice can add it into my mutural funds split it up between 2 of them and let money work for me. hell of a time for me to quit right at baseball season. I know a few guys i played with who did it like me and went into depression no shit , they had to get treatment one guy still is in the bigs and back on it, least i have xanax as a cruch to help, my doctor was going to give me a script for a pill that takes cravings away he called it in almost like vailum and xanax but it helps with cravings if i still feel like shit sat will have Jerri fill it is called chlordiazepoxide 25 mg's take 1 every 4 hours he was not thrilled that i was useing extra xanax which i take 3 times a day 1-2 mgs but really only take 3 1 mg 3 times a day unless i am very stressed out so not like i am taking more then 6 mg's like i should be taking anyway i have 2mg bars of xanax to take 3 times a day but break them in half and take 1 mg sometimes only .5mg's but he said this other pill is great for what i am going through so will see on sat. it is used for lot of different things. if not for talking to Jack i would still be doing it as i type. so thanks jack and good luck to all of you who have a head start on me, if bear can go 5 years and everyone else can quit i know i can but it has been harder then booze and also stopping juice when i did it for over 5 straight years. Good to have friends like jack or i would not of even tried have not been in gen for awhile so did not know anything about it till jack told me and i said i would do it with me, think he had 2 or 3 days under his belt already, but i know it has to suck for all but just like the booze with me, i know it will be much better when i am done with it.

Hey Fletch,

There is no questionthat your support was instrumental in my finally getting outa this ridiculous habit and I'm forever grateful to you and all that helped me out.....that is why I want to support as many as I can in whatever way I can..to help out and pay back..
It's NO WALK IN THE PARK...I visualized myself in a hand to hand battle and fought like hell...no way was I going to lose...and with the support I got it was ...no contest...
Now, you seem to have a good start....but your habit is a strong one and a tough one.....
Fletch.....You know that its a winnable battle and next month you are going to be free and adapting to life with a new resolve to remain nicotine free!

My best and GL

8 years free after smoking for 46 years. I feel much better now. Don't cough up that green phlegm anymore. I can breath now and even walk a mile or two when I want.
Before, I had to take primatene pills to open my lungs so I could smoke another cigarette.
But people say your food tastes much better. I haven't noticed any change in that.

Good luck to all trying to quit.
