I have tried to post Nascar stuff here before, but it seemed like there wasnt any followers or interest. I will try it again though! Here we go!

DAYTONA 500 ANALYSIS

The week has been dominated by DEI and Childress Racing, and I don?t see why Sunday should be any different. Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been the class of the field with his ?blocker? Michael Waltrip right behind him. Before I get started let me say this?..if Michael Waltrip is intent on blocking for Little E during this race?he WILL get punted. This is the biggest race of the year, and that aint racing. Wanna know why Earnhardt Sr isn?t here with us anymore? Look no further than blocking for the two drivers that he owned at the time,?.his son and Waltrip. With that being said?.don?t put your life savings on Waltrip in winning the race or matchups as he might end up at the back of the pack. Following are drivers that may make some noise on Sunday.

1)Dale Earnhardt Jr- He is my pick to win it, as it is the pick of many. He said that he has even more power in store for Sunday. He is being humble and he is ready to win this race. He has the best car and knows the track as well as anyone. It is his year. Too bad you can only get him at 3-1. If you can find him in some matchups against big name drivers with bad historys at Daytona?take it (Tony Stewart) You may find some value there. But if Dale Earnhardt Jr is not on your betting card for Sunday?you may be in for a bad day.

2)Michael Waltrip- Easily the second best chance to win here, if not for his teammate. As I stated before, he is content to take second place every time here, and after already winning this race once, he will be glad to do it again. Unless he gets punted, which is possible. Be careful betting on Waltrip. But definatly the second best car here.

3)Sterling Marlin- He knows how to win here, he has done it twice, and should have been three times. He has the best chance of the Dodge cars. He looks to be having a good week and the injury is behind him. His only problem is that he may not have any help?and he will need to draft with others to get to the from and stay there. He is my number three pick, and deserves some attention in matchups against DEI drivers?just due to value purposes.

4) Jeff Gordon- No way can you leave this guy off the list. As far as friends, he doesn?t have any out there, and that is always a problem for him out here. He is a step below the Top 2 on my list, and for that?he probably isn?t going to win?but he is a shoo-in for a Top 10, and more than likely a Top 3. He is money in a matchup against Tony Stewart, which you can get for about even money.

5) Richard Childress Racing- This is Jeff Green, Kevin Harvick, and Robby Gordon. All three have had their moments this week. I cant decide which I like the best?but the best shot to win is Kevin Harvick. He knows how to win and his car is first on the totem pole in this team. He coincidentally is the biggest underdog to win it! He is 28-1 and definatly deserves attention. He could very possibly be our biggest money maker come Sunday due to value. Unfortunatly Jeff Green is overvalued at this time due to being on the pole, and the same may be said about Ronby Gordon for winning the Twin 125. Harvick is solid, in a solid car, and knows how to win.

6) The only others I view with a feasible shot at this race are: Dale Jarrett, Ward Burton, and it is a stretch, but Mark Martin. Dale Jarrett is the leading money winner at Daytona, and has won it more than any active driver. He hasn?t had a great time lately, and Fords arent the class of the field, so he will race well, and more than likely go home with a Top 10-15 finish. Ward Burton is great at restrictor plate races, and has been under the radar this week. He should fare well, but he will not repeat unless the stars are aligned just right. Mark Martin won the IROC race this week and he knows the track and races it very well. He has never won it, but recently has been very good here. I give him an outside chance to taking the checkered flag.
With that being said?here are my bets for the race. I will try to post any changes to this.

TO WIN

Earnhardt Jr at 3-1 (10 units)
J Gordon at 10-1 (5 units)
S Marlin at 15-1 (3 units)
K Harvick at 28-1 (2 units)

MATCHUPS

J Gordon (-110) over Stewart
Harvick (+120) over J Johnson
M Martin (+105) over J Burton
W Burton (+105) over Sadler

S Marlin (+167) over R Wallace and J Johnson
W Burton (+170) over Sadler and Nemachek
Harvick (+195) over B Elliott and B Labonte
M Martin (+200) over Kenseth and Newman

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Big Tease: Do you happen to be Huckleberry from last year by chance. I always enjoyed those posts and this looks similar. Thanks for the write up.

stay tuned...it is too late for me to get into this right now, but I may have a few changes in the morning. After watching the Busch race...I have a few ideas. Kevin Harvick has to go to the back of the field (which isnt far) but he was having engine troubles. He should be OK, but just an FYI for precautionary measures.

Rest of the updates in the morning

Anyone think Mears is a good value at 10-1 to be top rookie after happy hour run that he had?

Mears wrecked at the end of Happy Hour, and would have been a great bet for that. But he is in more trouble now. I would stay away from bets like that for the simple reason that the winner of the bet may just be the one that doesnt wreck out!!!

OK?.some of this stuff may be repetitive, but I wanted to say my thoughts since my last post, and also give a section that may help some of you decide on the value of a matchup. I will list drivers that I fee are overvalued and undervalued.

First let me say that?the only way that Junior doesn?t win this race is of he has car trouble. No one is even courageous enough to try and steal the lead from him, he is so good. We saw that yesterday in the Busch race. If he gets out front in a clean race?he WILL win the race. With that being said?.if he does have trouble, then we have to think about some other drivers and master these matchups.

The following drivers should be considered when looking at matchups since they are undervalued (in order of value)

1) Mike Wallace- If you find this guy in a matchup?you gotta take him. He is driving the same car that is GREAT on restrictor plate races like Daytona and Talledega. Geoffrey Bodine drove this same car to a 3rd place finish in this race last year, and is always a Top 15 car. You will find him in matchups against scrubs like John Andretti at about even odds, and that is money!

2) Kevin Harvick- Richard Childress?s number one guy (Dale Earnhardt Sr. old ride) is getting no respect at 28-1 to win. He has the car to do it and the teammates to get it done with. He had an unfortunate incident in the Twin 125 , but was running great up until that point.

3) Jeff Gordon- Unbelievably he isn?t getting any publicity for this race, and that is a good thing for him. He will be running with the leaders all day, and if things go right for him, he can win this race. He is at 10-1 right now, and that has to get attention. I have plugged him into a few matchups simply for value reasons.

The following drivers are overvalued and may want to stay away:

1) Tony Stewart- He doesn?t race well here, never has. He is really overvalued b/c he is the Cup Champion. He will not race terrible, but I don?t see how he can win it. He is good against certain drivers on value.

2) Jimmie Johnson- He hasn?t ran well, or at least to his standards all week. He is becoming frustrated as he is a very impatient driver. Don?t be surprised if he is involved in a wreck here on Sunday. You have to be patient.

3) Rusty Wallace- Daytona doesn?t want him to win this race. They tried to stifle his attempt to give out free beer, and now that called him on an illegal carburator and he is penalized to the back of the field. He has had trouble with his handling in his new Dodge all week, and shouldn?t be a factor.

4) Ryan Newman- As Rustys teammate, he is still feeling out his new Dodge.

Here are my final plays (or better yet here are the adjustments I made to my earlier posted plays:

Parlayed:

Marlin over Elliott
Junior over Waltrip
M Wallace over Andretti
(PAYS about 3.5-1)

G Biffle over C Fittipaldi (-115)
Mike Wallace over Kenny Wallace (-115)

Also, added a couple units for Robby Gordon at 25-1, and added 2 more units to Junior.

GOOD LUCK

Sorry man I am not a fan of Jr or any driver that drives a bow tie or pontiac or mopar. Hell I even hate crusty wallace now that he drives a mopar. I have sworn my allegiance to the BIG BLUE OVAL

Well...here we go with the unpredictable shit. JR our b/c of a bad battery?? I never heard of such a thing. Oh well. I guess all I can hope for is to get this race started somehow and to get Waltrip the hell outta there. Harvick had the race lead if his asshole of a teammate (Robby Gordon) would have worked with him.

TBT I can not believe what happen to you in 2 labs before they shut it down. Gordon was ahead of Harvickand Harvick was ahead of Johnson. From your first post that would have been two more wins.
Grooven cant remember if you were in here last year with us.
But in this forum we kept it nice and neat. Anyone that wanted to be negative we all just did not pay any attention to them and they went away. We have small following here. But we dont mind becasue everyone has fun and gets along. Just aheads up so you dont feal your getting picked on.
