Just before the Dbacks went on this hot streak, Melvin used Owings as a pinch hitter, and both fans and media were wondering what he doing. Then he CRUSHED a homer in his next start, and it made a little more sense. After tonight, I'm not sure anyone can question using him to pinch hit.
I was sort-of watching during the game, but just checked out the highlights on mlb.com. DAMN.... those weren't just homers... he unloaded on both of those.
That's awesome. When I pitched in college I always wanted to bat so I could try to go yard. Must be a pretty incredible feeling for a pitcher to go yard (let alone TWICE) in MLB.
It is nice to know that I have something in common with C. Jones, A. Jones, and Texiera. We have all hit bombs off of Owings. I geuss the difference is they still can:com:
