you will be able to bet on sports legally by football season:00hour

I wish Texas would do it too... we do not even have casino gambling available here, we have to go to Louisiana, gambling would make so much money for the state if our legislature would get their heads out of their asses...We have horse racing and the lotto but no other gambling

Hedge, first and foremost our state government doesn't need gambling for money. We are one of the few states that isn't working from a deficit.

Second, do you really want it to be legal? All that will do is make you pay taxes on it. Never in my 20 years of gambling has anything about it being illegal gotten in the way of gambling.

I was thinking maybe lower property tax rates, the reason we are not in debt is because we have a Republican Legislature running the state

I have always had a way to gamble even though it is illegal:SIB If it was legal I would simply go to lunch and make my bets everyday instead of logging in to betjam:142smilie

I think for first several years of gambling legalized (if ever) in this country, the amount of taxes collected would not benefit the people (IMAGINE THAT!!). I think the bulk of tax money generated would be used to create yet more government jobs to fight "illegal" offshore gambling outfits even harder than they do now.

From what I have read in the Baltimore papers, the rules arent as "normal" as you'd see in Vegas or with any local bookie.

They wont let you just bet on one team. You'll have to bet a parlay and one of the items in the parlay will have to be a 50/50 prop like the coin toss or a player rushing for a certain number of yards, etc....

They want to allow sports betting while keeping it somewhat like a lottery.

IMO, the bill sucks the way it is written.

I have not read the rule but if that is true about only parlay bets it will be like the Canadian proline betting.

So from what we gather....I can stop placing bets tax free with my guy where I can do almost any prop straight parlay reverse or anything else I can imagine and start paying taxes as well as having to play a high risk bet....ummm who are they looking to draw in? I doubt any "player" throw away the locals number inorder to go on the books if any of these rules or terms apply
