The graph is misleading because the number of immigrants entering the country illegally have obviously grown since 2000 with the population that is trying to enter the country illegally.

Mind as well use the graph to wipe your arse:0074

Pols vow illegals crackdown
Outraged over lax immigration laws
By Hillary Chabot and Laurel J. Sweet
Friday, September 10, 2010 - Added 23 hours ago

Appalled state pols are vowing to crack down on lax immigration policies after a Herald story yesterday uncovered that a suspect in a deadly Lawrence restaurant shooting is an accused illegal alien awaiting a deportation hearing in Texas - six months from now.

?What was he doing walking the streets?? an indignant state Rep. Brad Hill (R-Ipswich) demanded to know of Fernando Guerrero-Lara, 27. ?If the federal government isn?t going to do their job, then I guess we?ll have to start doing it ourselves, state by state.?

The Herald reported yesterday that a fatal federal red-tape delay may have left Guerrero-Lara free to roam the country while awaiting a March 2011 deportation hearing.

Authorities allege Guerrero-Lara and a second man, Johan Saintclair, 30, walked into a packed birthday party at La Guira Restaurant on Broadway in Lawrence Monday and opened fire, killing mother of two Amarilis Roldan, 24, of Dorchester and Juan Suazo, 24, of Hyde Park.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has refused to say why Guerrero-Lara, a Dominican immigrant, was not in custody pending his preliminary March 7, 2011, deportation hearing.

State Rep. Jeffrey Perry (R-Sandwich), who is running for retiring U.S. Rep. William Delahunt?s seat, pushed this year to pass more stringent hurdles blocking illegal aliens from receiving state services. ?This is a prime example of the impact illegal immigration has on our country,? Perry said. ?It?s absolutely a matter of public safety.?

While state officials? hands are often tied when it comes to immigration debates, Sen. Robert Hedlund (R-Wrentham) said blocking state services for those here illegally could help.

Hill said local lawmakers must put pressure on the Congressional delegation.

?We need to send a very strong message to Washington that they need to address this,? Hill said. ?People are being killed because of their inaction.?

Since illegal immigrant deportations have doubled since 2000, perhaps when you're done wiping your ass, you could produce some statistics showing how illegal immigration has doubled since 2000?

From the Washington Post:

U.S. illegal immigrant population declines for second year

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

The number of illegal immigrants living in the United States fell by 1 million, or 8 percent, between 2007 and 2009, the U.S. government reported Tuesday.

The decline, to 10.8 million people in January 2009 from 11.8 million in 2007 and 11.6 million in 2008, coincides with the national economic downturn. It marked the first back-to-back drops in the number of illegal immigrants since the federal government allowed many to obtain legal status after a 1986 amnesty.

The report by the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Immigration Statistics feeds a technical but politically sensitive debate over whether a weaker U.S. economy or tougher immigration enforcement is more responsible for the change.

Advocates for reduced immigration said the findings show the country can shrink the population of illegal immigrants without simply legalizing them. Immigration advocates say enforcement alone is neither practical, affordable nor humane over the long run.

Independent analysts said that, while it appears that declines in the past two years are real and not due solely to changes in methodology in underlying U.S. Census data, the impact of enforcement will only be seen when the U.S. labor market recovers.

Still doesn't mean the growth isn't bigger than 8 years prior.the

-Liberal judges over turning vote of the people in CA on what defines marriage

--Gumby's admin overidng states efforts to confront illegal immigration

--Gumby's admin giving the ole finger to majority of americans on healthcare reform/giving healthcare to illegals

Gumby's admin fight for every Muslim initiative against the overwhelming will of the people.

---under the grift of for the "Middle Class"

Yep he got in with (98% of black and 66% of hispanic vote and if he succeeds with the 13 million illegals and they get the felon vote ok'd-
O/liberals should add 95% of illegal-muslim-felon vote to their coffers.

--Liberals will hen have an overwhelming majority of that "middle class" vote in the future.:SIB

Once again Dogs refuses to address the facts right in front of him. As he posts some Fox channel sound bites.

In DTB's world, the middle-class is made up of conservative white Christians only.

Bush started adding more border agenst, states have become tougher about cracking down on those here illegally. Those numbers would be even higher if ICE deported every illegal they process. Things have also gotten worse in Mexico as I'm sure you all know over the past decade and illegals crossing has increased over that time. Numbers can be totally decieving, think that border patrol claims that for every one person they catch illegally at least 5 to 7 more don't get caught. Obama changed very little from the policy on immigration from when Bush was in office. If there is more fish in the sea you tend to catch more fish with your net. The problems still exists, I live in AZ and know several border agents and have talked with several ranchers along the border here. Go spend a week at a border ranch, your eyes will be wide open to the problem these people face. Our borders should be as secured as possible with no excuses from anyone for any reason.

enough politics, on to football and good luck to everybody today. :00hour

Very much appreciate your local take on the issue, blained. We could use more issue-related posts around here.

Good luck to you, too.

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
When I lived in Texas, we never had the big fights and concern over illegals and legals like AZ and Cali. Nothing like a right-to-work state with booming and diverse economy to ease the concern!

And Bush worked hard on the Republicans there, telling them to face facts---better work for the hispanic vote 'cause the demographic facts are unassailable...

Houston Chronicle (Aug 24) reporter Susan Carroll wrote:

The Department of Homeland Security is systematically reviewing thousands of pending immigration cases and moving to dismiss those filed against suspected illegal immigrants who have no serious criminal records, according to several sources familiar with the efforts.

Culling the immigration court system dockets of noncriminals started in earnest in Houston about a month ago and has stunned local immigration attorneys, who have reported coming to court anticipating clients? deportations only to learn that the government was dismissing their cases.
