Interesting view--wonder what they would do if they were president and some one ask them though question--or had to do a non-canned interview.
Maybe someone should tell them there is nothng to fear but fear itself :)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Nevada Democratic Party officials said on Friday they were canceling a presidential debate co-sponsored by Fox News, following a joke chairman Roger Ailes made about Democratic candidate Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record).

In a letter sent to Fox, Nevada State Democratic Party Chairman Tom Collins and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (news, bio, voting record) said Ailes "went too far" with comments made the night before.

The letter makes no reference to a crusade by the liberal activist group MoveOn.org to boycott Fox, which it calls a "right-wing mouthpiece." Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards dropped out of the debate on Thursday, citing in part Fox's participation.

The letter also does not specify which comments by Ailes lead to the decision, but a Democratic source told Reuters it was a joke Ailes made about Obama and President Bush during a speech on Thursday night.

"We cannot, as good Democrats, put our party in a position to defend such comments," Collins and Reid said in the letter. "We take no pleasure in this, but it the only course of action."

Fox News Vice President David Rhodes responded with a written statement criticizing the Democrats for caving in to MoveOn.org.

"News organizations will want to think twice before getting involved in the Nevada Democratic Caucus, which appears to be controlled by radical fringe out-of-state interest groups, not the Democratic Party," David Rhodes said in the statement.

"In the past, MoveOn.org has said they 'own' the Democratic Party. While most Democrats don't agree with that, its clearly the case in Nevada," he said.
The joke by Ailes came during a speech to the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation First Amendment Dinner on Thursday night and -- while playing on similarity between Obama's name and Osama Bin Laden -- appears to be directed more at Bush than the senator.

"It's true that Barack Obama is on the move," Ailes said during the speech. "I don't know if it's true that President Bush called Musharraf and said 'Why can't we catch this guy?"'

During his remarks, Ailes also took indirect swipes at both MoveOn.org and Edwards, saying pressure groups were now urging candidates to "only appear on those networks and venues that give them favorable coverage."

Though he didn't refer to Edwards by name, Ailes said "any candidate of either party who cannot answer direct, simple, even tough questions from any journalist runs a real risk of losing the voters."

Las Vegas Review Publishes Editorial Condemning Nevada Democrats for Backing Out of FOX News Sponsored Debate
Saturday, March 10, 2007

The Nevada Democratic party's recent decision to cancel a FOX News sponsored debate between presidential candidates was a move triggered by the left's "lunatic fringe," according to an editorial published Saturday by the Las Vegas Review Journal.

The party had originally agreed to allow FOX News Channel to co-sponsor the debate between Democratic presidential candidates in Reno in August, but backed out of the deal Friday afternoon, citing comments made by FOX News president Roger Ailes as the reason for the decision.

The Journal's editorial, however, blames the "socialist, Web-addicted wing of the Democratic Party" for sabotaging the debate, saying they were "apopleptic" over the thought of having to watch FOX News Channel in order to see their candidates.

The editorial goes on to argue that if the Republican party decided to pick and choose coverage based on political leanings as the Democrats are doing, they would have rejected PBS, CBS, NBC, ABC, National Public Radio and The Associated Press decades ago.

That is a funny joke in a way...here's another pretty funny one. I'm sure it's old to most of you, but it was "news" to me, as I never watch any news on tv or listen to the radio (I am an old-fashioned reader)...however today I was driving solo across the country and flipping through radio stations. There was a fox news update on one I was listening to and at the end they gave their slogan...

Fox News, Fair and Balanced

:142smilie :142smilie

I have to admit, I was entertained...

"wonder what they would do if they were president and some one ask them though question--or had to do a non-canned interview."

Wow. I am speechless. Your boy, GW, has had less press conferences than any modern president by a long shot, and this admin is renown for pre-screening and rejecting any and all challenging questions. Doing a "non-canned interview"? DTB, are you fvcking kidding me?

"Our current president, George W. Bush, avoids formal press conferences like Ellen DeGeneres avoids men, and it?s no wonder why. Without the guiding hand of the teleprompter to feed his speechwriters? words into his mouth, he?s as lost as Rush Limbaugh at a NOW convention. And so, understandably perhaps, Bush stages a press conference about as often as the Chicago Cubs win the World Series"

"as I never watch any news on tv or listen to the radio (I am an old-fashioned reader).."

-and then turn around an make judgement --about fox being fair and balanced--

only answer I can come up with is--your doing your "intellectual " reading on liberal blogs ;)

Can you come up with any another--
----or have you been caught with your liberal panties down :142smilie

and back on topic--

If person with name barack hussein obama --with his family history can't take or expect ribbing--he shouldn't be running for president.

First of all, as a diagnosed PPD, I thought that you would know that we don't wear panties, as to not be caught in such a proverbial quandary.

I, unlike you, have not posted my complete autobiography on here yet, but I have discussed this issue in the past. My previous discussions have obviously slipped your mind, so I will give you the link:

http://www.madjacksports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=251073

On here, I clearly state that ALL news is not fair and balanced - every one has an agenda. It would be a ridiculous slogan for any news station to use. I also state that I quit watching the news because it was just in such a ridiculous state. I am quite familiar with Fox news and have watched it more times than I am proud to say.

As for your liberal blogs, I really don't know where to find any, as I have NEVER been on one. I have been on some conservative news site some time ago when Dr. Freeze challenged me to a "read off" and found it quite humorous. I'm sure I would find the liberal one humorous as well. Furthermore, I notice you reference liberal blogs in that other thread I noted. Is there anytime you don't mention liberal blogs, as if they are the end-all word for anyone who disagrees with you here? Give me a break on the liberal blogs already, or we may have to upgrade your diagnosis to OCD.

Don't feel bad HH -you were caught in undefensible position--having viewed all with the exception of the Gibson fellow I'd say Fox is by far in having both sides present on discussions--and you get few softballer aside from Greta.

I like tough questions/interviews--and seeing response
--Clinton slipped up and was interviewed from someone other than greta --their normal go to--bout six months ago--and when confronted on issue for 1st time since leaving whitehouse had to resort to the ole :nono: again --like anyone was insane to think he'd lie and then brings up Berger as his credible reference--Jon Stewert could even pass on that one next day :mj07:

No but is appropriate when you have liberal posters get caught by the short ones on contradiction in consecutive sentences. :)

but since you like to read maybe I can give you some reading material--from Review Journal in Las Vegas--

EDITORIAL: Meltdown over Fox

Network co-sponsors state Democratic debate -- oh my!

Hard-core liberals can't stand the Fox News Channel. Passing a television that's tuned to the conservative favorite forces many of them to close their eyes, cover their ears and scream, "La la la la la la la la la!" Then they dash to their computers and fire off 2,500 e-mails condemning the outlet, none of which are ever read.

But liberals' aversion to Fox News has finally gone over the top. The Nevada Democratic Party had agreed to let the right-tilting network co-sponsor, of all things, an August debate in Reno between Democratic presidential candidates. Party officials were serious about drawing national attention to the state's January presidential caucus, the country's second in the 2008 nominating process. What better way for the party to reach conservative and "values" voters who might consider changing allegiances?

Stay away from FOX? Good Idea? Yes. There use of words fair and balanced. Are just that words. There is a reason there numbers are slipping. I know there No. 1 now. But others are growing.
Some one who blasts the Dems all day long why in hell deal with them period. And talk about super Ass kissers to Bush and Cheney. There like the 3 or 4 Reb's left that have not found out how we were lied to. And how Bush really thinks we will win a civil war in Iraq. Witch side will be on to declare victory. We did our job in Iraq why are we still there. Fox has no idea they read what W H gives them.

Got to disagree, here. I say take it to them. If the debate is on Fox, go kick some arse. Show them what you are made of. By saying no, were leaving door open for lots of criticism and the same old story. Which is that Dems are weak and don't want to answer the tough questions. Let's not give these morons any room to mutter such garbage.

Dog i think its hated because the liberals know that there is a certain element in our society that is very gullible. You know the people who get sucked into those late night tv scams, by silly shit sold on tv like dd-7, real estate scams, the flowbee, and of course watch Fox News or soap operas. I think those liberals are trying to look out for those naive people can't think on their own type of people. You you are a different element of society. I think its the lost cause society. Or maybe the ass backwards society?

--as in most elections the independents will general decide outcome--and what this little episode showed them--is who is really controling the Dem party.

Yes I can see the side of go there and take them on. But be prepared for the commercial break that comes out of no ware when you get the upper hand. And when ever they have a discussion between a Liberal and Conservative. The Conservative seems to always get the last word. That' call controlling the exit.
