Looking at maybe doing one soon with bone graft. If you have had one, I would appreciate any info you can--procedure, cost, -how many visits-do they work, etc. Thanks:confused:

It's the way to go. If I had to have a root canal done I'd consider extracting it and placing an implant. The reason is that when a root canal is done, they need to put a crown on it but they put it on living tooth. Which...can still get new decay, the root canal can fail, etc-

Once the implant integrates with your bone, that thing isn't going anywhere. You need to pay for the grafting, the implant, and the crown itself that screws into the implant. Depending on your area probably 3k-4k. But, if you look at the long term, it's actually cost-effective if you can take the hit now. Like I said, once the actual implant integrates with your jaw, the thing will not move. What can happen over time is the crown that screws into it, if it's porcelain which it probably will be, can fracture- So for a big picture, the only real maintenance may be the need for a new crown itself. But, the implant will remain.

The only reason I would not consider an implant is if you are a smoker. The success rate drops considerably, blood flow is not as good in the mandible/maxilla and the implant has a high chance of failing to integrate into the bone-

Let me know if you have any more questions-

Thanks everyone--not a smoker. Got some time on this so just want to go thru all options. No pain now but will be. The tooth now has a crown and a a root canal. Some infeciton deep in the gum. Will need a bone graft.

Might have some more ? later Saint.

Airportis yea please do.

Ben Affleck?s teeth were replaced in Armageddon. Bay noticed early in production that Affleck?s teeth seemed like baby teeth in the footage they had shot. He notes that Bruckheimer had previously replaced the teeth of a ?very famous star in a plane movie?. Affleck spent eight hours a day in a dentist?s chair for a week to get the teeth you see in the film now. These teeth also cost roughly $20,000. This is all just in case you were wondering how Armageddon cost $140m. $20,000 for teeth is a good start.

dental, vision and hearing are options that can be elected as optional benefits under most but not all health insurance programs.
...............................................................

i have looked into this and the coverage is so costly and it dont cover enough to even consider it.

dentists have a racket and everyone knows it

Not you KOD. But Americans in general. You pay for what you value- Gripe about a 1200$ crown that you get 5-10 years out of. But hey, new 400$ phones every other year? 1200$ per year on the cell phone service- 500$ IPads, etc.

KOD,

Spend 3k that lasts about 20 minutes once you realize ND is a fraud. Spend 3k on your teeth and get years of usage out of them.

hmmm

Most Kentuckians opt for getting the tooth pulled. Should run you about 50 bucks. Just throwing it out there.

Went to 2 implant specialits this week--one would take 12 months to complete everything the other 15 months to do. One was $3200 out of pocket the other $3900. :scared
That's not including insurance coverage-I have $1500 deductilbe--most of it pays up to 50% of cost. I need a bone graft--$1900--of course that is not covered by insurance- 1 little bone graft--$1900:scared

$200 to pull the tooth and say screw it.

The good news is that both of them say I don't need one now--if it is not bothering me forget it. :00hour Wait until it is bothering me--aching-swollen gums etc Could be 1 day--could be 10 years:shrug: .

 $200 pull it--$3200-implant:mj08: :burnout :dizzy: :00x25 :0038 :0062
You can't see the tooth when I smile. I have not had a tooth pulled in 30 years. I am having a had time justifying $3200 for a tooth.

Dental implants go in stages. Try and divide up each stage between different years so you can get the insurance to max out for two years. Also perhaps have a plan with a higher max before you start. Get my email from Jack if you have more questions.
