Detroit (25-11-7-1) at Chicago (20-13-8-3) 8:30pm
CHICAGO (TICKER) -- Brett Hull tries to become the sixth player in NHL history to score 700 goals in the same city where his father starred for 15 seasons as the Detroit Red Wings visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night in the finale of a home-and-home series.

Hull came into his second season as a Red Wing with 679 goals and has scored four goals in his last three games and six in his last five to put him at 698.

The 38-year-old Hull would join Phoenix Coyotes managing partner Wayne Gretzky (894), Gordie Howe (801), Marcel Dionne (731), Phil Esposito (717) and Mike Gartner (717).

He also would become the second player to reach 700 in a Red Wings jersey, joining Howe. Hull's historic tally could take place in the same city where his father Bobby scored 604 goals. The elder Hull skated with the Blackhawks from 1957-1972 when they played at Chicago Stadium.

Hull has scored three times in the last two meetings with Chicago as the defending Stanley Cup champions have posted a pair of overtime wins.

In Monday's 5-4 win, Hull netted Detroit's fourth goal 11:23 into the third period before Chicago defenseman Phil Housley forced overtime 5:18 later. Defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom scored his second goal of the game just 47 seconds into the extra period, pushing a rebound past rookie goaltender Michael Leighton.

Detroit avoided consecutive defeats for the first time all season and Chicago stretched its streak of getting at least one point to 13 games (6-0-4-3). That streak is Chicago's longest in over 27 years. The Blackhawks got a point in 15 straight games (6-0-9) from October 29-December 3, 1975.

WINGS LAST 10 GAMES ? 6-3-1

BLACKHAWKS LAST 10 GAMES ? 3-0-4-3

Detroit Red Wings (25-11-7-1) at Chicago Blackhawks (20-13-8-3), 8:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Detroit Red Wings try for their second straight win tonight when they head to Chicago to close a home-and-home set with the Blackhawks at the United Center.

Nicklas Lidstrom scored two goals, including the game-winner 47 seconds into overtime, as Detroit outgunned the Blackhawks, 5-4, on Monday. Jason Woolley, Kirk Maltby and Brett Hull also scored for the Red Wings, who are 9-3-3 in their last 15 overall.

Curtis Joseph made 34 saves, as Detroit downed the Blackhawks in OT for the second straight time. The Red Wings won 4-3 in Chicago last Sunday.

Lidstrom's 11th goal of the year ended the contest. Brendan Shanahan skated down the wing and took a shot from a bad angle. Chicago netminder Michael Leighton made the pad save, but Lidstrom was able to knock the puck across the line before the goaltender could cover.

Hull has scored six goals in the last five games and is just two short of 700 for his career. He is set to join a club that has just five members -- Gordie Howe (who has 801), Phil Esposito (717), Marcel Dionne (731), Wayne Gretzky (894) and Mike Gartner (708).

Detroit, which leads the St. Louis Blues by two points in the Central Division, will conclude its brief two-game road trip in Colorado on Thursday. Away from home this season the Red Wings are 10-7-4 and are 5-2-3 in their last 10 road tilts.

Kyle Calder had two goals and an assist in Monday's loss for the Blackhawks, who have just one win in their last six games (1-0-2-3). However, Chicago has registered a point in 13 straight contests (6-0-4-3).

Phil Housley and Sergei Berezin each added a goal and an assist in the loss, while Leighton made 28 saves. Housley had gone 26 games without a goal.

Defenseman Jon Klemm missed his 11th game due to an injured left hand on Monday and is once again questionable for tonight's tilt.

Detroit, which has taken two of three from the Hawks this season, is 3-1-1 in the last five matchups with Chicago. The Red Wings have also won two straight and six of their last nine in the Windy City.

Go Habs Go!!
I too, at first glance, would take the Hawks.

But, I'm scared of Manny Legace... he's been playing very well and has been more reliable than CuJo lately. Key saves always turn out in Red Wings victories.

Another thing, I don't like when I hear stories like Fleury's latest incident. The teams' energy changes focus. Food for thought...

Good luck to you tonight!

Go Habs Go!!
I don't think the Wings are the kind of team to worry about other teams. They are old veterans that have been there before. I'd say the Avalanche are the one's that have this date circled in their calendar. My interrogation to you is: Will Detroit have enough juice in the tank tomorrow night? My answer... nope!

Having done this exercice with you, I think I will probably pass. I would give a slight edge to Detroit but too close for me to risk it. I am definitely going to pick the Under knowing that it will be a hard-fought game, also knowing that Dave Lewis gave a "denfensive-minded" statement to his players starting tonight and having Thibault and most probably Legace getting starts in nets.

Let me know what you decide on... Good luck!
