They appear to be getting a schedule break this week. Something I noticed when looking at a couple of games today.

3/4 Tampa @ NY Islanders
3/5 NY Isles @ DETROIT

3/6 Phoenix @ St. Louis Blues
3/7 St. Louis @ DETROIT

The games could be pricey for those who don't like big favorites as the Wings probably will be as they are at home getting teams on the back end of back to back nights.

poor Florida finally won one last night, but play again tomorrow.

they've only had one day of rest between starts since Feb 18. Last night was 9th game in 14.

this continues for next five games (with a BtoB instead of a days rest on one) AND those next five alternate home and away!


with playoffs hopes fading and team gonna get tired, we'll have a nice dog Mar 8 when Buffalo visits on second nite of B2B, and a fine chalk Mar 10 when they are at NYR.

Hey HORNS...Got this from the Detroit Free Press...I'm guessing he's not going tonight but all I have is this article. Chelois isn't even saying what his injury is. Check out last quote in article.

CHELIOS UPDATE: Wings coach Dave Lewis was searching for a word at Monday's pregame skate. He wanted to say that the availability of defenseman Chris Chelios was more than day-to-day. "If there was a word that doubled day-to-day, that's the word I would use," Lewis said. "I don't know if he'll be ready for Tampa" on Wednesday.

Chelios suffered a leg injury during a collision with Daymond Langkow in the second period of Sunday's 5-2 victory over Phoenix. He did not play vs. Columbus.

Langkow "was trying to set a pick, and I was leaning forward," Chelios said. "At the last second, I saw him and tried to protect myself."

Lewis said it could have been worse. "It looked pretty bad at the time. Thank God he's flexible and who he is."

Chelios, reluctant to discuss specifics about injuries, said he would be fine. He recently missed nine games because of a leg injury.

"Same treatment, and then I'll wait and see," he said. "Last time, it took four or five days the first time I injured my . . . the other spot."
