Holy crap! I'm sitting in my office... just another day at work - talking to my mom on the phone... I usually keep my office door on a crack so I don't have to get up to let people in, and it has a thick frosty glass window. Well through my door and the lab door that is closed across the hall I hear a big explosion and see a flash of blue-green light... This can't be good. My door slams shut. "Mom - I gotta go."

I push open my door and there is smoke billowing out of the lab. This is not fire smoke, but chemical smoke - really nasty to inhale. I hear "Call 9-1-1" and "Pull the fire alarm" - I grabbed my bags and hightailed it out of there, but the explosion was literally 15 feet from where I was sitting and I inhaled a good bit of smoke.

The chemical explosion was in one of our labs and it blew out the window (and some other stuff out of the lab). Luckily, right before the explosion, someone closed the lid on the reactor AND HE STEPPED BACK, or else he would have been seriously hurt... No-one was hurt and that was the most important thing, but everyone is a little shaken by the incident, including myself. The police came and after a quick assessment of what exploded, they taped off a police line about 100 yards around the whole building - I work right by the campus center and they were not allowing anyone into the main quad on campus... Yeah - I really want to go back tomorrow... :com: :scared
