"To the moon, Alice."

Personally, I think we went to the moon. But I have no unequivocable proof of that without using "The Google." And frankly, I don't really care that much. Perhaps the administration can sub-contract out the universes largest air base to be built on the moon, so we can keep the space terra-rists in line?

But more importantly, are The Transformers considered Terra-rists?

PT1 - You are living proof that we not only went to the moon, but also that we brought something back.

there you go smurphy, bashing already ... so why do you think we went?

check out the van allen radiation belt, theres only a 18-hour ride through radiation so severe its only about 700xs stronger than considered lethal; or astronauts gone wild, where the apollo nauts disagree whether you can see stars from the surface of the moon or whether you can hear engines taking off from the moon; or the original interview with the apollo 11 crew--armstrong wont do interviews after that initial; or nasa site where you can see wires on tons of shorts films attached to the nauts backs (gotta make the gravity appear 1/6th of earth some way); or shadows that splinter into right angles with 2 people standing within 5' of one another; or how astronauts get jerked around on their wire leash and made to tumble and curse.

for the uninformed, it was filmed in NV on a soundstage, fellas... try getting outside the box and think like winston smith tried

we never went to moon, it was all a hoax to chump/sucker the american public bc the big bad rooskies had beaten us with sputnik and lo and behold we needed to show 'em our yankee ingenuity :00hour; also didnt hurt that viet nam was bad pub and it took the sheeps mind off that gulf of tonkin smoke and mirrors for the industrial miltary complex

apollo 13 was a laugher, all staged, no probs with the craft--needed some TV ratings and interest in nasa bc apollo 12 was a nielsen disaster compared to maiden 11.

waiting to see who else knows the truth or at least has done some research ...

spread the love, guys, lets hear what you or were taught in school.

I think we went to the moon. I know you'll post a barrage of youtube videos now. I've seen them all. Is everyfockingbody who doesn't believe as you a sheep or not capable of thought?? **NOTE** you 'drew first blood' in this travesty, I mean thread. Hopefully, Jack will treat this thread just as he did the one started by fatfreddy.

Just out of my own curiosity, do you also think that we bombed ourself at Pearl Harbor or that we at least communicated with the Japanese and let them do it in an unmolested fashion. I'm waiting for that thread next.

then was 9/11 about politics, or was it about synthetic terrorism? boy, am i confused ... maybe i will have to open one there too ... thing is, no one comes into this forum comapred to other and thats why i was told not to clog the gen. forum ... i feel this is political topic bc the gov pulled another ruse ... but maybe im wrong, gosh it sure is a shame to post something ambiguous in the wrong place.

but either way, thanks scott, my brother, you pointed out something very valuable :)

thanks gregg

you know I am beginning to like you more better.

I really did laugh my ass off at some of your storys
about your youth.

Very well written. You should spend more time doing that instead of wasting it on you know what
and people like mr mel.

PS - the next name or insult called in here, I will be forced to report it to the higher authorities.

Oopsy - I already did

"check out the van allen radiation belt, theres only a 18-hour ride through radiation so severe its only about 700xs stronger than considered lethal;"

would love to see a source on this one.

The Question
(Submitted February 28, 1997)

I wonder if you could tell me exactly what the VAN ALLEN BELT is and how much radiation does it contain, ie how many rems of radiation are there out there? Plus, what protection would organic life need to be protected from this radiation?

The Answer
David Stern, a researcher in another lab here at Goddard, has graciously supplied an answer to your question, given below:
"The radiation belts are regions of high-energy particles, mainly protons and electrons, held captive by the magnetic influence of the Earth. They have two main sources. A small but very intense "inner belt" (some call it "The Van Allen Belt" because it was discovered in 1958 by James Van Allen of the University of Iowa) is trapped within 4000 miles or or so of the Earth's surface. It consists mainly a high-energy protons (10-50 MeV) and is a by-product of the cosmic radiation, a thin drizzle of very fast protons and nuclei which apparently fill all our galaxy.

" In addition there exist electrons and protons (and also oxygen particles from the upper atmosphere) given moderate energies (say 1-100 keV; 1 MeV = 1000 keV) by processes inside the domain of the Earth's magnetic field. Some of these electrons produce the polar aurora ("northern lights") when they hit the upper atmosphere, but many get trapped, and among those, protons and positive particles have most of the energy .

"I looked up a typical satellite passing the radiation belts (elliptic orbit, 200 miles to 20000 miles) and the radiation dosage per year is about 2500 rem, assuming one is shielded by 1 gr/cm-square of aluminum (about 1/8" thick plate) almost all of it while passing the inner belt. But there is no danger. The way the particles move in the magnetic field prevents them from hitting the atmosphere, and even if they are scattered so their orbit does intersect the ground, the atmosphere absorbs them long before they get very far. Even the space station would be safe, because the orbits usually stop above it--any particles dipping deeper down are lost much faster than they can be replenished

Let's see....

Let's see....

Jack locks your moon thread at 2:15 pm.

You start another thread on the same issue at 2:21 pm.

Do you think maybe he's had enough.

What a disrespectful assh*le you are.

But he does seem to be trying to get along.

Not sure how long before MR Mel gets here though.
