you folks are condemning the wrong person...

you folks are condemning the wrong person...

DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

if you had any idea who Michael Moore is you'd lay off the guy and check out some of the things he has said.

he is a welcomed voice in a world of greed and hostility. do yourselves a favor and watch his documentaries...they are gripping and heartbraking looks at a culture out of control. his mission is to point out the inequities in our world and inspire the common folk to make a difference.

so what if you dont agree with his stance in the so-called war...as an american, you should repesct his right to speak out. he is at the top of his profession, therefore he will be heard in ways others wont.

he has a history of pressuring those, who are obviously misguided, into doing the right thing. i.e. check out the actions Phil Knight (CEO of Nike, Inc) took after Moore confronted him about the sweatshop labor he was using to make Nike shoes.

essentially what im saying here is knee-jerking reactions to one statement made by a man who has dedicated his life to helping others is a mistake.

its rather obvious that i agree with most of Moore's stances. he has inspired me to think globally, and act locally. as far as the "war" is concerned, i too agree that this is a fruitless action...the only feasable outcomes are (1)we will once again prop up an impotent leader that will enhance the corruption/instability (i.e. Noriega) (2)elevated instabilty in the region which will give future terrorists more fodder for their actions (3)an extended occupation that will be paid for on the backs of american workers.

lets hope we can minimize the military and civilian deaths related to the mess. my heart goes out to the soldiers.

im out...

I agree Vegas...

Micheal Moore - despite what he said tonight - is a good guy. So the guy hates Bush.....big deal - so do I, he also hatted Clinton. But this guy as Vegas said brings the world of greed and hostility to you!!

You guys should watch "Roger & Me" It is a documentary about the closure of General Motors' plant at Flint, Michigan, which resulted in the loss of 30,000 jobs!! YET the CEOs threw a HUGE party and made millions - Moore came in and crashed the party and busted them. Blood Face was another great documentary about the KKK, Nazis, Facists...etc...

I`am probably gonna get soooooooo bashed for sticking up for him - but oh well. Moore is doing his best to rid the world of greed and curroption by making these documentaries.

Iam not sure if I woulda said what he said at the Oscars. A lady backstage interviewed him - my sister got what they were saying from a friend in LA - she`s sleeping now, but tomorrow i`ll ask her for it.

Moore makes good points about alot of things - people just dont care to listen because they dont wanna hear it. They just dont give a shit about the economy and the woes going on here at home. I know too many people with degrees and technical skills that dont have a job

Michael Moore's documentaries make CNN look like unbiased reporting. It's because of him and those who think like him that Bush is in office. He denounces Bush as the devil, but without the Nader vote, the "demon" wouldn't have gotten close to the White House.

This 24 hour coverage of the war is killing me. I won't be productive in the morning to support all these corporate fatcats that are padding their pocket books with my sweat and blood.

BBC - theres something you gotta understand with CNN and the other news groups. The Gov designated WHO THEY follow. They are with the 101st? 3rd Inf? 7th Cav? 1st Marines?

While these are GREAT and HONORABLE divisions(with great traditions) - they are not doing the dirty work at all. What I would love to see is the 10th Mountain Division. or the 1st Armor Division....the truth of the matter is....we will never know. The likes of the 10th and the 1st Armor - these guys are on the front line - not this CNN BS. How about the Rangers? Green Beratte?

This BS on CNN just makes me laugh as the days go by. I wanna see the good shit!!! I gotta keep watching Al-Jazeera for the good stuff, but my damn signal goes in and out...

Hey whatever to keep the Ameican Spirit up I guess....

For example - they only showed 1 of the American POWs....When they had all the POWs on Al-Jazeera, you`d see all the soldiers with the exception of Spec. Joseph Hudson. The other POWs were scared(dont blame them) and couldnt talk straight - especailly the poor girl :( They picked the one guy that talked like he had cold ice going throug him...why?!?! Ask yourself...would you wanna see your son or daughter looking around the room - cuz thats what they were doing.

Hopefully Iraq obeys the Geneva Conv. rules of treating a POW. I`d be heartbroken if it was one of my buddies...

by the way...here are the others...

Even though nobody gives a rats behind...heres a plot summary about the movie I got from a website.

The United States of America is notorious for its astronomical number of people killed by firearms for a developed nation without a civil war. With his signature sense of angry humour, activist filmmaker Michael Moore sets out to explore the roots of this bloodshed. In doing so, he learns that the conventional answers of easy availability of guns, violent national history, violent entertainment and even poverty are inadequate to explain this violence when other cultures share those same factors without the equivalent carnage. In order to arrive at a possible explanation, Michael Moore takes on a deeper examination of America's culture of fear, bigotry and violence in a nation with widespread gun ownership. Furthermore, he seeks to investigate and confront the powerful elite political and corporate interests fanning this culture for their own unscrupulous gain.

what's with all the intellibent personal attacks on Michael Moore? A guy willing to stand up for what he believes, present his views that differ from the media mainstream, and what we hear is "what a fat piece of sh!t".

As has been said, read one of his books, watch Bowling for Columbine, or Roger and Me, and then offer criticism.

He's intelligent, articulate and viciously funny. Without voices like his, the US would appear to an outsider like Russia in the Soviet era, with nothing but pro-government cheerleading.

Disagree with him, sure, but acknowledge that his, and others freedom to speak is indeed what you are defending...

cheers

I watched "Roger & Me" and thought it was very good. What I didn't like was listening to was his thoughts on the war, the Election, etc. Saw him on a talk show and his view on Immigration is impressive. He said "We have alot of room and space in the west. Why not Let people live in the desert?" And since he thinks Big OIl companies are the bane of this country, what does he expect w/his documentary? OK-Make more gas guzzlers.
Like when Bill Maher said it was cowardly of us to fire missiles @ our enemies from far away. Maybe we should throw rocks.
Easy to criticize, but lets see them come up w/some answers. Besides it could be worse- they could be in power. Just goes to show that $ can't buy class! I usually like to disagree w/out being disagreeable or rude. As for "Stupid White Men" he speaks for himself. Funny thing is when it comes to Slavery, or the Election, etc. it's constantly brought up again and again. These same people come back w/"Get Over It" when someone questions the OJ verdict. Besides I thought you had to earn respect. For what Moore said about the Country, the Election, the War, and so on- I guess you're right. He is a Fat Piece of Sh*t :weed:

Only you need to go away for things to improve.

The whole world is against you, Mr. Bush. Count your fellow Americans among them.

the Dixie Chicks have now come out against you! How bad does it have to get before you realize that you are an army of one on this war?

Finally, we love France.

Let him go to Iraq and speak out against Saddam like that he will find himself either taking an acid bath or being put feet first in a cement mixer.

My Affincinado for breasts are not relative here Flash! ;)

My issues are plain and simple! I don't want to hear this guys liberal BS any longer! Just because this dipshit can make decent films on certain subjects does not make him any more the expert on how a country is supposed to be ran! Just because George Clooney played one hell of a doctor on TV does not make me want to see him about a brain tumor if that was the case! I would talk to a real doctor! In the same breath..........In his case he needs to find the next big tragedy and use that as his basis for his fame and skip the liberation of Iraq as his soap-box cause his cologne is just tooooooo stinky for me!

right on Bluemound Freak. Could not of said it more right myself.

I am sick of people who don't like war using the media to voice opinons. If you don't like the war then get one of your liberal arses in office. I am all for freedom of speech, without it America would not be the great place it is today. Where I have trouble is when people beat a dead horse into the ground through the media. Do these liberal ass mofo's think that they are going to stop the war. Hey Mike we know you don't want the war , now shut the f##k up. Our country is in a hard time, and Mike if you are too good to support our country when it needs you then don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. :p

Here's why I can't stand the guy.......he an egomaniac and a hypocrite:

From Salon.com:

Read an interview with Moore and sooner or later you get to the part where he says, "I'm the same person I was before 'Roger & Me.' I still only own three pairs of blue jeans and one Detroit Tigers cap." It is vital to Moore's sense of self (not to mention his career) that he remain a Guy from Flint.

He hasn't been that guy for quite some time. Even when he says "I never made more than $15,000 a year" before "Roger & Me," he's not counting the $58,000 settlement he got from Mother Jones after they fired him. (The magazine says Moore was incompetent. Moore says the publishers conspired against him. You make the call.)

The thing is, no one would even think to begrudge him his success if he wasn't such a snob about being "working class."

Like when he says, "Average working stiffs were willing to ... pay seven bucks to see my movie. So if they're going to give me their money what am I going to with it? Get a big boat? I don't think so." Instead he got a $1.27 million apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. You didn't think he still lived in Flint, did you?

Again, no one would care, except that Moore insists on telling interviewers that it's OK because his neighborhood is "a lot like Flint. It's poor, noisy." Granted, it's noisy (though I suspect it's quieter up in Moore's 17th-floor pad, even out on the 755-square-foot terrace), but poor? Within four blocks of his front door, Moore can buy a $3.40 cappuccino, $375 shoes or $400 sunglasses. Fortunately, the local all-you-can-eat "barbecue pig out" is only $15.95.

Moore's address does put him in a good school district, but that doesn't matter. He sends his daughter to private school.

What's really sad is that Moore is dependent on being Joe Baseball Cap largely because he is bereft of any ideas beyond that. As Might magazine pointed out, the crux of Moore's political agenda is, in his own words: "We need to let the working class know that we don't think we're better than them." If Newt Gingrich said anything so patronizing, the Left would never stop ridiculing him. And how do "we" let "them" know we're on their side? "To effect change we have to get off our high horse and start living in the real world," Moore says. "I want you watching 'Friends' every single week. I want you listening to country music." If only my mother had known watching TV was an act of revolution. She'd never have made me turn-off-the-damn-set-and-do-your-homework-already. Besides, if the popularity of "Friends" really means that show represents where ordinary Americans are at, what does that say about shows that don't get high ratings, like, oh, "TV Nation"?

Occasionally, Moore tries to elaborate on this theme and slips up. "Rap music and country music, these are the voices ... of people who are disenfranchised," he told one college audience. "I know the music sucks, but don't you want to put yourself through some pain to see what people are feeling?" Not that we're better than them or anything.
