In case you didn't know I hate the evil empire and always root against them. Here are reasons why Detroit will win game three. It's like real estate, pitching, pitching and pitching.

The best the Yankee can put out there is a washed up pitcher with a bad back, Could he pitch a great game yes but nothing on the season or lately suggest that. Era on the season is 5.00, last three games 7.64. This is not the Randy Johnson who was dominate and shut down the Yankees in the world series. This is a below average pitcher who has a bad back. On the road teams are batting 242 against him. When they get runners on and he has to pitch from the stretch it gets worse, they are hitting 321. But wait, if the runners get in scoring position, then the strikeout king bears down and throws the high heat by them, not!! The batting average of opponents rises to 348. This is the best you can come up with for $16 miilion dollars and on top of it he doesn't pay child support. Hes a stiff. Hard to root for this Yankee.

Lets go to the other side. Rgers era is 1.2 better at home than on the road at 3.26. Batters hit 247, with runner on 265 and when they get in scoring position 271.

Pitching wins and so do the Tigers. Gl Tiger fans I will be rooting for you!!

Yankees won with RJ 4-0 but that was at the end of May. I wouldn't count on that from him again. The over seems logical based on Randy's recent form. Yankees will score against Detroit.

Moe lets see who gets closest to the score?

I say Detroit 7-5

"The Gambler" is 5-7 with a 6.45 ERA against the Yankees and has a postseason record of 0-3 with a 8.85 ERA. I took Detroit and the Under today, will be on the other side of both tomorrow.

9-7 yankees..idont see randy pitching well either but just wanted to remind you ,since you like #s..rogers was once on the yankees ,this guy and pressure do not mix.randy and rogers will not make it out of the 4th in my opinion.

As a huge Tigers fan, I love hearing the reasons to think Detroit will win game 3. I don't have the stomach to bet this game, but I like the way you think.

Go Tigers!

Definately more value with the Tigers today. This isn't your normal Randy Johnson as recently he wasn't even supposed to pitch in the playoffs. He's definately hurting and could have a tough time. I'm sure the Yankees will shoot him up and try to make him feel okay.

Tigers should have a lot of momentum after yesterday's win. First playoff game in the Motor City since 1987... I see an extremely vocal crowd making a difference.

Northern Star out of curiousity have you not followed baseball since 1996? Epic reality check, Kenny Rogers is the worst post season pitcher who has ever lived.

POSTSEASON PITCHING STATS
0-3 8.85 ERA 20IP 32H 20ER 16BB

His ERA is the highest of all time for any pitcher with a minimum of 5 post season starts. He is also 0-7 with a 9.21 ERA in his last 11 starts against Yanks. Johnson is no prize everyone knows that plus he's hurt, but with this Yankee lineup which led MLB in runs and who slaughters LHP, to say the Tigers have a pitching edge with Kenny Rogers on the mound is insanity.

Worst playoff pitcher ever? Are you serious? You just said he has had only 5 starts, how can you label a guy the worst SP in playoff history who has only had 5 starts? Health wise, the Tigers have an advantage, Rogers is 100 % and has pitched great at home all year, RJ is up in the air whether he will even be able to stay in the game without getting hurt.

If this game falls to the middle relief pitching, Detroit has the edge even though their pen got some work yesterday, still liking them better then Lidle, Proctor and Farnsworth.

I'm still leaning towards the Yanks right now just because that offense is so scary to go against, but after reading your post, I'm leaning towards the Tigers.

Worst playoff pitcher ever, yes I'm serious. Anyone who is a Yankee fan certainly remembers 1996.

ROGERS 1996 POST SEASON STATS

0-0 14.14 ERA 4G 3GS 7IP 15H 11ER 6BB

Pretty hard to do much worse than 7 total innings pitched in 3 starts.

Impressive with the Mets as well.......
ROGERS 1999 POST SEASON STATS

0-3 6.75 ERA 4G 2GS 12IP 16H 9ER 9BB

He's appeared in 9 post season games 5 starts, find me any pitcher in MLB history with a minimum of 5 starts with a worse ERA? Perhaps you are more impressed with his post season WHIP? 50 base runners in 20.1 IP.

So you were initially leaning to the Yanks but after reading my post it has persuaded you to back the worst post season pitcher ever who also happens to meltdown everytime he faces the Yankees? Terrific analysis on your part, going against one of the best lineups in MLB history, who kill LHP.... facing a lefty who has had a major meltdown in every big spot in his life.

Nicely put. 11-3 Yankees, maybe more depending on how Rogers really sucks.

The reverse jinx? :mj07:

Mr. Rogers has one more inning to pitch and then they can go into that pen and try to finish this one off.

If he keeps rolling they might keep him in there as long as he doesn't get in any trouble. But I wouldn't mind Walker pitching to the lefties in any key situations, Zumaya in the 8th and Jones to finish it off, just like last yesterday.

You knew RJ was going to give away some more runs sooner or later, Torre waited too late to take him out, let's see who comes in now.

The Yankees have Jaret Wright pitching in a possible elimination game tomorrow.
