Does anyone here currently have a digital cable tv descrabmler filter? I am thinking about buying one on ebay but I'd like to hear about other users experience with the filter before I buy one. Thanks in advance for responses. :D

I wasn't even aware digital descramblers were available yet, I have analog ones, however they are only good through channel 99.

NJ, I have one tv with basic cable, but the other channels are snow. Will the box work on that or do i need to upgrade my cable service first? Thanks.

hard to say flipper if you have basic cable not attenna service, that should get you all premium channels plus pay per view, Everything that is offered on the ananlog, which sux b/c cable companies are taking a lot of channels off analog and only providing them to digital users.

Flipper,

Buy a Sports Afield or any mag that has ads in the last few pages. You'll find ads for descramblers. Call a few of them. They will tell you what you need. And I asked if they would report me, they said NO they were in the business to sell these products not report people. Never had a problem.

Thanks guys. My goal is to pay for minimal amount of cable as possible. It is $10.00 a month to get cable for just the free channels and no espn. To get standard basic with espn, and other sports channels it is $38.00 a month. I want to pay only $10 a month if possible. I am a cheap bastard, but that savings adds up.

It sounds like you have one of these filters. No problems using the filters whatsoever? I think I am going to buy one of these puppies from ebay for $10 or so. I will let everyone know how it works out

These filters WORK guys. A good friend of mine works for the cable company and he has several different kinds of filters that he installs for the subscribers. Different ppl get different filters. I'm talking about the small metal filters that fit inline with your cable. Maybe 2 inches long. The cable company keeps tight inventory of these filters though, so my buddy couldn't hook me up. I think they get installed at the street in the cable box if I'm not mistaken. If these filters they are selling on ebay are the same filters, you should have no problem. Hell for $10 bucks its worth the risk! ;)

Stuman--I think you are referring to the old analog filters. WE used to have three of those sticking out of the back of our TV. That was when there was only one HBO, Cinemax, and Showtime. I don't think those work on digital cable. It will work on the channels that are not digital, though. I think that is any channel under 62 in our system. That doesn't include any movie channels. njsf25g is right when he said all cable companies are moving towards digital signals.

I wouldn't pay too much for these because they are going to be outdated soon.

If anyone is referring to some kind of digital de-scrambler--I'm all ears:bigear:

dawgball, these new filters are for digital cable the go right to the box
they allow you to get movies, sports, and PPV specials that you can order with your remote. the filter intercepts the signal from the cable company

I just placed my order for one of these filters tonight. I should be getting it sometime next week.

One last question for you NJSF25G....I know that w/ this filter I can get PPV's, sports, etc. etc but will this filter allow me to get HBO & Showtime as well or do i need to continue to pay for it. Thanks for the responses buddy you have been a great help. :D
