With the little one on the way, I am currently researching digital camcorders to purchase. Are there any that people here recommend or would not purchase again. I am leaning towards Canon since I have enjoyed my digital still camera so much.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Sites that do extensive, unbiased reviews would be helpful. Have read cnet.com's write-ups and found them helpful.

Thanks.

After looking, it doesn't look like I need to spend much more than a grand. I don't need a three chip camera.

Using cnet.com's vocabulary, I would be in the Home-movie category. Their categories are: Budget, Compact, Home movie, and Three chip. I also do not need Bluetooth on the camera.

Thanks

dawg- I just bought a sony mini-dvd 100 for the wife @ xmass and the picture is awesome, the only problem is getting the mini-dvds. I just bought some @ the local sony outlet for 22 for a dvd/rw 60 min, I also ordered some on the net. I bough mine @ circuit city 3 wks ago and went back to the store a week before xmass and they were sold out of the same model.

You maybe able to get one cheaper on pricegrabbers.com. Sony is the way to go, I looked at the reviews of the cannons and they weren't very good.

Good Luck

Canon cameras

With so many to choose from, it is hard to choose the best one for my needs. I don't know much about camcorders. I feel like I am about to break down and go to Circuit City to try different ones out.

Dawg,

I am in the market for a digital camcorder too and have found the following sites to be pretty helpful so far:

Camcorder HQ

CamcorderInfo.com

I think I am going to go with the Sony TRV38. Good luck! :D

Also, I was wondering if you ever had any luck getting hooked up w/ a discount real estate agent?

fitness -- I have talked to a discount realtor, but I have not put my house on the market just yet. We have 6 months to sell it, so I am going to try and market it myself first to avoid any payment. I have a friend here who said she would cut the commission down to 5% if we placed it with her.

The discount broker had two plans: 1. Pay a set price ($2995) when he sells it by marketing it on his own, or 2. Pay 4.5% commission if he lists it on MLS (3% to buying aggent; 1.5% to him). The discount broker seemed like the way to go with me. They are full service brokers.

Full price brokers, I'm sure, will have negative things to say about this route. I don't have positive feedback about it because I have not made a decision yet.

Also, check out Choice One Digital .

The owner of this site said he would hands down buy the DCR-PC105. I gave him a budget of $1,100 and he recommended a camera that lists at his shop for $686. That gives me a lot of confidence. I asked him about the TRV-70 ($892), and he said that he would definitely stick with the PC105.

I am going to Circuit City today to play with different models.

Thanks for the info on the discount broker. We are probably going to be listing our house soon.

I saw really good reviews for the DCR-PC105 too, however, a lot of reviewers said it was awkward to hold. Let me know what you think since you're going to look today. Take care!
