did anyone else get the penalty flag in the mail from directv this year. we now have to pay an additional $99 this year to get the games in HD. granted that it will be amazing but what the hell is with the penalty flag.
to me it looks like they called a penalty on me and threw the flag, then i get fined $99. call me crazy but this doesnt sit well with me. i have been using their service for almost 5 years.

am i the only one who received a penalty flag

Mjolnir -

If you have a 4:3 TV you'll see some improvement in picture getting HD, but to really appreciate it you need a 16:9 set. On 4:3 you may find the picture is a bit smaller than you like or are accustomed to, as you will have black bars along the top and bottom of your screen.

But ya, I had DTV HD Sunday Ticket last year, and there was just no comparison in picture quality....much MUCH better in HD.

At least you didn't get a letter from DTV demanding $3500 and a 10K lawsuit. Like they did with about a quarter million customers... :mj07:

I hear what you are saying, TMH. It seems like someone in the Marketing dept. chose a bad angle to ask people to upgrade. A penalty flag definiely raises negative emotions which usually is not the goal of a campaign.

I believe they made their millions by people settling. Most of these lists of names that they acquired via busts of pirate sites had statute of limitations of two years. That time frame expired and with them making an unhackable card...the piracy went away.

i just talked to directv today and the lady said the only way to get any HD games is by paying the additional $99. I asked to speak with the supervisor and told her no where in there tv promos does it say that you have to pay extra.
after about 5 minutes of arguing they gave me the free upgrade. If you watch and listen to their sunday ticket song on tv no where to they mention the extra money and they say the games come in HD, no way they can refuse us.
