will take the lucky winner with the saints tonight; not many times what a game is close and you have 2 to's in 2nd half and one for a td that you
win.

who da

It happens more regularly when the team turning it over holds the opponent to 215 yards of offense;)

Again, don't disagree with either call, but if you think its an "easy call", then you would make a horrible coach.

Good chance you don't pick up 6 yards and game would pretty much be over. ATL D played great all night and should have been able to force a punt rather than give up 2 first downs.

again, that's the standard nfl mentality

why would the game be over???

it's still the same scenario....stop them on 3 plays and get the ball back only difference is that

1) you've given youself a chance at 6 yards
2) you've given up 20-30 yards of field position

the probability of getting 6 yards (or a penalty for an automatic first down) are SIGNIFICANTLY better than actually stopping someone from getting 10 yards on 3 plays

Game wouldn't be over, but there's a good chance you'd be at or inside the 10 with about 1:30 and no timeouts....that's IF you stop them on 3 downs. Still manageable but its not easy to go 60 yards in that situation and that's still a long FG attempt just to tie.

I'm just saying its a tough decision and to hear people say its an obvious decision and he's a moron to punt is ridiculous.

if your punting to jimmy clausen and carolina.....and you have 3 to's left.....sure, i could see punting.

letting one fly to drew brees and the saints???
no chance, go for it

Hey, Ricardo Montalb?n. When you sober up from your rural GA moonshine binge, you will read that I spoke only of Saints being a mentally tough team. If you watched it, then you probably know what I meant. If you are still bothered by the Atlanta loss to the current champs, then get over it. It's not easy beating your big brother.......

Not to beat a dead horse, but just want to say, I completely see your point. I'm not even saying I would punt. Its a different game than it was 20-30 years ago as far as high-powered offenses and field position.

I just don't think it was an easy or obvious decision, even against the Saints. They almost got a fumble and had a horrible spot cost them any chance..
