Steve, this brings back some great memories or should I say some blurry ones:weed: but what a great game and it is totally free. My advice is to work more on your "putting", will knock many strokes off your game! {Just ask Agent:mj07: } I hadn't played in years and went out with some guys that played all the time and shot 2 under the first time in 15 years and thumped all of them. I may take it up again since the real golf has not been working out lately:142smilie

I wonder what Gary's finger would look like in that game! The disc may take it off!:mj07:

Do you bounce the disc off your shoulder like your shaft Gary?

Steve, I have never played but it sounds fun....

You are not coordinated enough to play disc golf:mj07:

Everyone knows golf is not an athletic sport:142smilie

Steve,
EVERY hole is a par 3:shrug:

If this is the case, that is a very long course:scared

The courses I used to play were not this long, I would be dragging my shoulder after playing a round on this course. I have three different courses within 15 minutes of my house and have been thinking of taking it up again. Do they still use the chain baskets for the holes?

On this course they are all 3, hence why I haven't pared a lot of holes. The course is long but the terrain is what kicks my Ass. We walk over the stream twice stepping on rocks, the hill down and up are make shift stairs...Tough on a Old Man. A lot of Trees, I mean a lot and Bushes out the Butt. Came up a Guy 40 ft up in a tree chasing his Disc. Yes, chain baskets....The farest shot I have made is about 40 ft or so.

Never heard of this before. It does sound interesting though. How fast is it growing and what part of the country is it booming?

What is Disc Golf?
Disc golf is played much like traditional golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, however, players use a flying disc, or Frisbee? The sport was formalized in the 1970's, and shares with "ball golf" the object of completing each hole in the fewest number of strokes (or, in the case of disc golf, fewest number of throws). A golf disc is thrown from a tee area to a target which is the "hole". the hole can be one of a number of disc golf targets; the most common is called a Pole Hole? an elevated metal basket. As a player progresses down the fairway, he or she must make each consecutive shot from the spot where the previous throw has landed. The trees, shrubs, and terrain changes located in and around the fairways provide challenging obstacles for the golfer. Finally, the "putt" lands in the basket and the hole is completed. Disc golf shares the same joys and frustrations of traditional golf, whether it's sinking a long putt or hitting a tree halfway down the fairway. There are few differences, though. Disc golf rarely requires a greens fee, you probably won't need to rent a cart, and you never get stuck with a bad "tee time." It is designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages, male and female, regardless of economic status.

Good description, I also started playing in the 70's and a couple of courses had upside down concrete barrels with a 4x4 in the middle used as the "hole". Another of the courses was designed through the trees so every hole was designed as doglegs or you had to shape the disc through the trees. Just like a golf ball, the trees will definitely kill the flight of a frisbee:mj07:

There is a nice little course in baton rouge, and I used to play regularly in college. Not a very popular "sport" around here. A friend who transferred to LSU from Col St in Fort Collins introduced me to the game. He had a slew of discs, so it appears it must be more popular in Colorado than the deep south. I used to play with 1 disc and a borrowed puter.
