My daughter who has worked at Disney since she did her college internship there 9 years ago is about to lose her job . Disney announced yesterday 28,000 are being let go in California and Orlando were she works. I feel so bad.. She got her bachelors degree in Hotel Management and started out at the bottom being a hotel clerk at the desk for 5 years.. Then she became a concierge at the Grand Floridian their 5 star hotel. And finally became a "team leader" in charge of all the concierges at the Floridian. She dealt with all the superstars actors,music stars etc She has been furloughed the past 4-5 months so she is getting her medical but any day they are waiting for the final word. She is getting married in January in Orlando and she is still going through with that.
I know she has her health benefits and have supported her .. Florida has a teacher certification program that people with a Bachelors Degrees can take accelerated education programs and get certified to become a teacher. Her two sisters are teachers so I think she has that in her blood .. anyway I look at it as she is healthy and about to start a new chapter in her life.
On the Austin Front .. My son has his baby due around Halloween here in Austin My daughter-in-law has a liver problem and they think they will induce labor next Tuesday . My other two daughters who are teaching hate this virtual education. My daughter here in Austin on Monday will get kids in her classroom for the 1st time. In a class of 25 kids 20 will do it through zoom and 5 will show up in class. She is worried about teaching lessons on 2 fronts. If a student in class needs help how can she deal with him with the other 20 in there zoom class.. they have to work out the kinks. My Philly daughter who is doing zoom now says her 27 inner city kids are doing pretty good. She has to stop some students from eating there ice cream pops and lollipops during class She sometimes ask can your mother come on the zoom only to have their older sister who is 9 come on and say My mother is at work.. my daughter is teaching 1st grade...anyway they will manage
