damn...guess the REST of the country hates Bush too...give them the grammy...all you fringe guys chime in.

Well jabber the neocon network and boys tarnished these girls just like they did to Dan Rather and all they said was the truth but when you can brainwash nitwits to follow you these type of things happen. By the way the one Dixy girl was wwrong. She said he was a disgrace to Texas. No, he is a disgrace worldwide except to monkeys that is.
On another note catch out Dan Rathers new show if you have direct Tv. It is pretty good. Marc Cuban owns the station.

The CD was good and most likely the best of the year. Shame on the stations that didn't play it.

dude should give up the big mac's for lent. he was scary looking. some great music on the show. like it when they can actually sing and not just jump around and can't sing a lick. i am definitely getting long in the tooth. i wouldn't watch timberlick if you paid me 5k. can't wait to hear the dixie hens next strategic move in the middle east. don't remember the kid's name that came on after richie but what an athlete! don't know if he can sing a lick but i wish the spurs would sign him. overall a great show.

I believe it was mostly Clear Channel stations that boycotted. What a shocker. I mean that got to pay back Bush and his fellow criminals for allowing Clear Channel to own most of the radio you listen to in any given market.

Blitz the type of music is irrelevant. The issue is how stupid your basic American is. The guy is an embarrasment to everyone other than corporate america, the religious right, and Americans so wrapped up in the flag they seem like there drug addits to patriotism.

Well I ain't. This country will have to learn they can't kill everyone that disagrees with them. The Dixie Chicks were right regardless of what the majority of NASCAR, southern hillbillies, the religious right and the rest of the fly-over red states think.

Bush has murdered thousands, should be impeached and tried for treason.

PS: So much for our agreeing on anything, huh.

Chicks music been good for long time. Maybe a few folks saw that finally. I still think there music is more country pop, then straight country. That to me makes it better. Can't wait for Hannity and Reilly to kick them. They been doing it for over a year. Even tho most Americans know we had a con job done on us by Bush and Cheney.

It's amazing how many people all of a sudden give a chit about country music, when you have a lefty artist...

In all honestly, I've never liked country music, but I became a DC fan around 1998... it was long before any political stuff. Although I haven't listened to the newest stuff.

Wease- I'm not sure what you're talking about in terms of sales. They had one of of the 10 best selling albums in 2006.

Although music is very subjective, I think the Chicks are very talented musically - good musicians, good singers, and they have a right to have an opinion on world events and leaders. It's also the right of others to bash them for their opinions - but to refuse to play their music is nothing more than big business sponsored sensorship, IMO. Pretty much can thank Mr. Powell for that one, allowing domination of a few businesses to determine what is "right" for listeners to experience.

A couple comments on posts in this thread:

I also don't know what Weasel is referring to by "not selling." (But what else is new...)

Al Gore remains the definition of a stuffed shirt, and is God-awfully out of place in "hip" environments.

Blitz: In talking about people giving a chit about country music only when there is a lefty artist - what about Freaking Toby Keith, for crissakes?!? If any genre of music would tend to lean to the right, it would have to be country music.

A realization for me: I was impressed with Timberlake, and I have always bashed him before. Played both the keyboards and guitar pretty well, the song he wrote was a good funky song, and he performed well on the classic duet he did. I know I'll get blasted for gayness on this one, but so be it. The guy was pretty good.

This particular Chicks album was essentially co-written with two rock-influenced people. The CD is supposed to be more rocky and less country than their other ones. Not that anyone cares.

Finally, I thought Natalie came off as a complete idiot, as she usually does.

Peace.

I've never understood why Toby Keith is always the first one mentioned regarding 'right-wing' artists.

He's written a few songs in support of the troops and he has played overseas for them many times, but I don't think that should translate into him being some right-wing nut, or possibly even a righty at all.

He doesn't talk politics in his songs or in interviews and he doesn't talk about supporting this administration or otherwise.

The only thing he does is come out in support of our military.

But he's always the one mentioned.

That was my point. Mainstream could care less about country music until one group comes out and goes to the left...

I also think Dixie Chicks are very talented and I even own one of their CD's, just don't tell anybody cause I will deny it...:00hour

I think I need to swallow the pill here, as my post was a little ignorant to the truth and based in my assessment of a couple of his songs. I have always felt Keith was a little money-driven in his music (not that I deny someone making money, really) and his response song for 9-11 seemed to set a tone - "Boot in Your Ass" kind of thing. I just have always felt he was profiting from his "support" of the troops, as a few of his songs have that kind of language. Selling Ford trucks and more CD's along the way, that kind of thing. And he has had a feud with the Chicks, but Natalie was probably more at fault there.

But, after Googling a little bit, I see that he told Newsweek he never supported the Iraq war and is in favor of a timetable and withdrawal of the troops. I wonder how many country music fans that blasted the Chicks and sang his praises know that.

At any rate, I think I am off base by using him. Damn you, Kosar...lol.
