I know his job is relatively safe but you cant think the Jayhawk fans are happy losing these first round games in the tourney.........Last year they were heavy favs and this yr they were favored by 7 points and lost again.........Just wondering

i really like Self as a coach (heard him in depth a few times and he knows the game and is well spoken), his team was young as you know and if they all come back and get some recruits mixed in, they should be a power next year

Hes seem to be a decent coach and a great recruiter but I sure find I dont quite trust his teams in big games...........remember when he coached the Frank Johnson led Illini team that lost in the final 8 to Arizona and Gilbert Arenas and company........

i hear what ur saying, this biz is so damn competitive i have trouble saying who is really a better coach then next guy -- some obvious were eddie sutton thru the years and even chaney for a while seemed to bag some wins with under-recruited teams, but on the flip side some years Lute looks like a genius then others he folds, and there are many just like that ... I think you need some ballsy kids, even in opening game, b/c the jitters can strike anytime .. even in HS i see the powers play their worst games in openers vs teams hardly worthy of being on floor ... once they get past that first game, they often find their feet and ticker

Kansas greatly overachieved this year. But Self has not been too good a tournament coach, and once that becomnes a pattern it is awfull hard to shake. I think with the way this always happened with Roy folks in OZ have a quicker trigger, but they all know next year is the year. if he isnt in the Final Four next year his collar is going tog et very tight.
