Georgia Tech quarterback Reggie Ball had a breakthrough practice Thursday and might start Saturday's game at Virginia Tech, Yellow Jackets coach Chan Gailey said.
Ball took more snaps with the first team than backup Taylor Bennett.
"I still think both quarterbacks will play," Gailey said. "I know you're going to want me to say a percentage, but I don't know. I know you're going to want me to say who's going to start, but I don't know."
Not only did Ball practice significantly more than he had earlier in the week, but "he didn't feel bad when it was done," Gailey said.
Ball is recovering from viral meningitis, which forced him to spend two days in the hospital last weekend and miss Georgia Tech's game against Connecticut.
In other health news, defensive end Eric Henderson (ankle) was very limited in practice but still might play, and tight end Michael Matthews (ankle) has a chance to play, Gailey said.
Yellow Jackets players are not available for comment on Thursdays.
